At the time of the Fall Equinox, the Sun passes though Libra, traditionally known as the sign of balance. In truth, however, Libra is the sign that restores balance. Appropriately, during the Sun’s trek through Libra, once again, the hours of daylight and darkness are equal- but darkness is about to regain it’s hold on the Earth. At this time, the ancients gathered their final gifts from the Goddess and collected seeds to be used for next years crops. The seeds held the potential for new life. Gathering and collecting foodstuffs were essential to the continuation of survival during the upcoming “barren” months, and the ability to mete out only what was needed is a perfect representation of Libra’s love of moderation. At this time, then, gather your thoughts, collect your memories, and prepare to do internal work. It’s time to rest, to retire from the busy days of light, and ready ourselves for winter.
