Magic Hours

OK everyone knows about planetary hours. Blah blah blah. This program does them automatically if you put in the right Latitude and Longitude. Use Wikipedia to find out yours by typing in your town's name. While on the subject you can get free astrology charts--and therefore Luna's position--at Astrolabe. (Btw for better results always put in the non Daylight Savings Time.

Now for the juicy part, Luna. Planetary hours are good for rites, Luna's position is for all the other "magical" works, e.g. wildcrafting, tool making, etc. I came across this little tidbits on attributes of the Moon being nothing more than just tides, time, and always a concern for magic. The proving points was Reid's lessons in Practical Alchemy on Levity Alchemy Labs.

Even though the Moon is the fastest planet it still takes a while for it to move. So to fix this there are the Decans, division of 10° of Sign, and the Easter Counterpart of Dwads, divisions 2.5° to incorporate all 12 signs. (There are division of 5° called the Quinances, but only find correspondences to the Goetia and Schemahamphorasch, but nothing on "sub" signs or their rulers.) Of course to make this truly Ceremonial: the charts.

Formulas

Wait Time = DESIRED_POSITION - MOON_CURRENT_POSITION * 1.8214388
Hours = Wait Time * 24
Minutes = [Hours] * 60
Seconds = [Minutes] * 60

Example 1

In about 1.5 weeks of writing this very article my herbal spagryic solution will be done, and it'll be time for the Separation phase. Separation is ruled under the planet Mars and the Sign Scorpio. Making the best time to remove the herbs would be when the Moon is in Scorpio, a Decan of Scorpio, or a Dwad of Scorpio. First off to get a basis for calculation, Luna at 06:00:00 18 March, 2007 is at 18°53' Pisces. The "current" Decan is Cancer, its current Dwad is Libra. Using the charts we are lucky and the very next Decan and Dwad are Scorpio and Mars.

Let 0 = 0° Virgo
Current Position = 18 + 53/60
Scorpio Dwad = 20
Dwad Wait = (20 - 18 - 53/60) * 1.8214388
          = 2.033939993...
          ~ 02:02:02
Dwad Time = 08:02:02

Example 2

I want to start (physically) making a set of Theorictus (Air/Luna) talimans starting from tomorrow. Luna at 06:00:00 8 March, 2007 is at 6°46 Scorpio, Decan Scorpio, Dwad Capricorn. We'll go for the next Luna Decan at Aries of Sagittarius.
Let 0 = 0° Scorpio
Current Position = 6 + 46/60;
Aries/Luna Decan = [Signs Moved] * 30 + 10
                 = 1*30 + 10
                 = 40
Decan Wait = (40 - 6 - 46/60) * 1.8214388
           = 60:31:56.938032
           ~ 48:00:00 + 12:31:57
Decan Time = {8 Mar} + 48:00:00 + 6:00:00 + 12:31:57
           = {10 Mar} 18:31:57
