The Nanning Connection

Almost two years ago I posted an advertisement on another site (Asian Friend Finder) in hopes of finding a pen pal in the orient.  That one little ad changed my life.  I received answers from a number of women but one in particular caught my eye.   I started corresponding with this young woman on a daily basis.  Things became more and more serious and on Thanksgiving day I flew from California to Nanning to meet my pen pal.  It was love at first sight for both of us. 

Some highlights of our dating by computer: 1. There is a definite language problem involved.  I do not speak Chinese and she did not speak English.  2. She did not have a computer and had to go to a computer store to have her letters received, interpreted and sent.  3.  During our visit we decided that we were going to be married as soon as we could take care of the governmental issues that would be required.   4.  Things were delayed because while I had been separated for 25 years I had never received a divorce.  5. While waiting for the divorce to become final I logged on to several sites and learned the intricacies of US and China immigration laws. (You can find some of these in our Links section).

Since we met in person she has been taking English lessons at night from the interpreter (a 22 year old college graduate).  Also about a year ago, my fiancé's sister bought her own computer shop and the interpreter is now working there.   I am currently in touch with about twelve couples with a US - Nanning connection.  However, there are still a lot of Nanning women who are waiting for their Prince Charming.  Many of them are using my future sister-in-law's store for trying to find their man.  They are going through various profit making sites and most limit them to answering one ad per day or charge for addresses.  I started thinking about this and offered to open my own web site to help them out.  I want everyone else to be as happy as my fiancé and I are, and to have the same opportunities.  We started off small, with 9 pictures and 14 profiles.  The original ladies are no longer available, they have met their PC or are currently writing to someone. We are now updating the site by adding nine new pictures and profiles - we will add more profiles as long as there are women in Nanning who want to meet someone.  And we will not charge for this service.  The computer store will make a slight profit to cover the expenses of translating and for the use of the computer, but this will be paid by the ladies in Nanning.

Wages are much lower in China than in the US.  Most of these women earn less than $50 US a month, so if you do start writing to someone on a regular basis you might ask if they would be willing to let you send them a few dollars to help with the cost of translating and transmitting e-mails, but it is not required.

While I hate to stereotype any group, it is my experience that these ladies are attractive, intelligent, very loyal, and very loving if they are treated properly.   They are not looking for wealthy men, or good looking men, just honest men who are looking for their life companion.
