Part 9
You stand suddenly and, startled, Paul scrambles to his feet beside you. You look around at him with a new confidence.
"Paul, thank you."
"What for, Jay?"
"For reminding me what I am and what that means." You tell him. "Paul, I know there is a war going on. I know that if that fails then anything we do here will become pointless and doomed to failure. But if there is no one on Earth, fighting for our new world, trying to save lives even one at a time then the Galactic Federation is fighting for nothing." You pause. "I will not devalue Hsui Tai's sacrifice or anyone elses by giving up now, Paul. While I can save even one life or be even one voice crying out for peace in this confused and busy world that's what I'll do."
Your voice becomes soft.
"I'm out of my time here, Paul, I know that but in a way so are you and John and Elena. We have responsibilities beyond any of those concerns.
We are Tomorrow People!"
