Hatching Story ![]() None was looking foreward to the hatching of Cesiyath’s clutch as much as Werane was. The green-blue dragoness had complained constantly about what a bore it was to sit and watch over the eggs at all times, and then she’d turn right around and complain that she was never going to get to do this again. Werane! They’re finally hatching! Cesiyath exclaimed happily, and bugled loudly to alert the Candidats. Binerth winged quickly into the cavern, R’kal dismounting from his brown. The first egg to rock was average sized, and Werane watched proudly as a sapphire nose broke through the eggshell, and an average-shaded blue dragon righted himself quickly. He took no time in waiting for all of the Candidates to come in, but strode right up to Jajay, throwing his head back with pride. "You really think I’m the best, Henticuth?" he asked the dragon, who nudged him again. "Okay, okay, we’ll go eat." Two green-sized eggs had crashed into each other while Jajay had Impressed, spilling a pair of greens onto the sands. Only... One of them wasn’t all green. The green-silver dragonet hissed at her green sister, obviously knowing that she was special. The second green, who was minty in her shade, hissed back, throwing her head up. They looked as though they were headed for the same female Candidate, but the mint green, who was easily much bigger than the green-silver, hissed again at her sister and pranced up to Gisoa. "She’s not as special as you are, Oianth, I swear. Just because she’s got another color? That makes no differance." Mollified, the mint-green was led off the sands, leaving her sister to make a choice. She hurried up to Zatani as a midnight blue hatched out. "Tryth, I wouldn’t of taken that stupid other green anyways," the young man said stolidly. "What do you mean, do I wish that I’d gotten a blue? You’re perfect!" The blue was quite confused as his sister was led off the sands and many of the girls looked quite sad at the green’s disappearance. Curious, he snuck up to Kahraka, nudging her softly with his nose. Why are you said, rider-mine? Just because my stupid sister went and Impressed a male? I am much better than him, no? Oh, by the way, I’m Cesath. At that exact moment, three of the remaining eggs hatched, two average-shaded, dainty greens and one brown making their enterance onto the sands. "Honestly, Swaeith, you don’t have to worry," Letheichia told one of the greens as it scampered over to her. "I’ll wait as long as you want me to." The young brown hurried after his sister, then swerved at the last minute towards the males, entirely disorienting himself. "Yindath," Kaymor breathed, then laughed softly. "Girls are nothing but trouble. Don’t worry about her. Let’s go eat." Shizu was a bit angry as the second green paraded her way up and down in front of all of the females haughtily. "Oh, come off it, Ceth," she groaned deeply. "It’s not as if they can’t already tell that you’ve chosen me. Why?" She chuckled at the little green. "Because I just told everyone your name, that’s why!" That left three eggs, two rather dainty and one average sized, in front of three Candidates. It was quite surprising whenever the largest egg broke open to reveal an average-colored green, who moved the sand around with one wing, then turned over and rolled in it, the sand sticking to her gooey skin, making her look almost speckled. Incari was looking at the green with disgust on her face. "Well, I think that someone’s going to need a very long bath after this. And so am I," she muttered, not sounding too entirely angry at the prospect, trying to wipe some sand off of her white robe. The green, quite startled at this testy girl who was so interested in staying clean, hurried over to her, rubbing her wet, sandy head against the pretty young woman’s robe. "Wievekth!" she yelled, then suddenly realized what had happened. "Oh, we’re going to go and give you a bath as soon as we can... What do you mean, ‘can I eat first?’ Of course you can!" During all of Incari’s fuss, a second egg had hatched, and a small, average-hued blue had already Impressed to Bedrek, who proudly announced his dragon’s name to be Entith. None were expecting the dragon inside this egg to be anything special, namely because of the fact that there had already been a two-toned dragon in the clutch. A dainty green picked her way out of the egg, her pine-colored hide glistening in the light. Comadra, why do you not like being the last one here? And why do you think you are? I am Xellth, and with me you are not last, but first, and that is all that matters. Cesiyath stretched her wings over the broken eggshells as the last dragonet was Impressed, and the spectators hurried to the Hatching Feast, each one struggling to get their before the person in front of them did. I think that I’m actually going to miss them,, Cesiyath said sadly. It’s too bad that I can’t do it again.
Werane groaned deeply, R’kal coming to sit next to
her. "Atleast," he said, placing a hand on her
shoulder, "it’s all over!" ![]() | Search | Hatching Story | Stats | |
