![]() Mianda stretched and stood up from her place on the grass. Looking over towards the lake she spotted her gold conversing with a few bronzes. Behave yourself Amauneth, she warned her. What do you mean Mianda? I am always nice and these bronzes are being polite. Mianda nodded and sat back down. I was just saying, she said. Amauneth grunted and said, All right Mianda I understand but I don’t think it will be a problem. Oh, and may we go to the hunting grounds later? I am beginning to get a little hungry. Mianda sighed and replied, But we were there four days ago. You are hungry already? Amauneth warbled and said, I am a growing weyrling Mianda, I need to eat like all the other dragons. Mianda smiled and said, Alright we’ll go whenever you want to. They stayed at the lake for about another hour and then the golden weyrling got out of the lake and shook herself off. I am ready to eat now Mianda, she said simply. Mianda laughed and climbed to her dragon’s back. “I can see that.” Amauneth crooned and then took off for the hunting grounds. As they were flying around the Weyr a few dragons bugled a hello, Amauneth returning the greeting each time. “Do you know them?” Mianda asked her dragon as she looked down to see who was calling to her lifemate now.” Amauneth warbled and said, Some yes but I have no idea who half of them are. However, I am always polite and will not push some aside just because I have not met them yet Mianda. Mianda nodded and said, “That’s good to hear. Some dragons don’t do that. You would make a good senior queen if you have the chance.” Amauneth snorted and asked, And who says that will not happen? ![]() When they landed in the hunting grounds a few bronzes and browns lifted their heads, calling to her. She replied and then said, This gets very annoying after awhile however Mianda. Sometimes I wish I had been hatched s a green so that the males wouldn’t notice me until I was in heat. Mianda frowned and said, “Why would you ever want that to happen? You meant to be gold and just because the males notice you more doesn’t mean that you should hide behind a green hide. When you are an adult, you will appreciate their calls.” Amauneth sighed as her rider dismounted and said, Yes I suppose you’re right but haven’t you ever wished you were someone else so that you wouldn’t have to deal with a certain problem? Mianda laughed and patter her dragon’s shoulder. “All the time. I can’t tell you how many times just in the past year that I wished I was a farmer so that all I had to worry about was the crops instead of all the classes and such that go on around here.” Amauneth sighed again and said, Well I suppose there is a reason for us all being what we are correct? Mianda nodded. “Of course there is. If I wasn’t who I am then I would not have Impressed you, or perhaps you would not have hatched at all.” Amauneth snorted in surprise and then said, That would not have been good. Mianda shook her head. “No it wouldn’t, now go eat.” Amauneth flew off towards the herd of beast, scattering them in different directions as she flew. She circled the animals a few times and then dove down after a fat doe, lifting her from the herd with a bit of difficulty and then flying to one of the eating ledges. Mianda sighed, looking around the grounds for someone she knew. When she didn’t find anyone she sat down on the grass, looking up into the sky and watching the clouds. Why do you not go and make friends with one of the male riders here? Mianda shook her head. I couldn’t just walk up to someone. I’m not like that. Amauneth sighed and said, Well why not? It is not hard, and I have met many males that way because most are too shy to walk up to me. I suggest going and talking to that male there, by the rock. He seems like he’s nice. Mianda shook her head again, I can’t do that Amauneth, I’d freeze up and look like a complete dimglow. The gold warbled and said, You’ll do fine, just think that you are talking to me. I will aid you if I must. Mianda sighed and said, Fine. Mianda walked over the rider that Amauneth had been talking about and smiled. He smiled back and stood up straight, putting his hand out. “I’m J’ten, rider of that bronze there,” he said as he pointed to a male who was just picking a buck from the herd. “His name is Derventh.” Mianda shook his hand and then said, “I’m Mianda, rider of gold Amauneth. She’s the one on that ledge there.” J’ten looked impressed and then said, “A gold huh? She’s an adult?” Mianda shook her head, “No she’s only a weyrling, she’s uh, big for her age.” J’ten nodded, his eyes resting on the queen. “I’d say so. She’s about 38 meters?” Mianda laughed softly and said, “Yes just about, well as of a sevenday ago, but she could have grown by then. She’s starting to slow down a little though so I’m hoping that she won’t get much bigger.” J’ten nodded and said, “Well sometimes an extremely large queen is good, for clutch sizes and such. Does she have a temper? I’ve heard some queens are insanely testy, and not just around their mating time.” Mianda shook her head. “No she’s very level headed and just. She’s unlike most of the queens here I think.” J’ten nodded and then said, “You may think this a little rushed, but will you have dinner with me tonight?” Mianda didn’t answer for a moment and then Amauneth said, Say yes! Mianda jumped a little and then said, “Sure I will.” J’ten smiled and said, “Great! I’ll come by your weyr at about eight?” Mianda nodded and said, “That’s fine. Where are we to eat?” He shrugged and said, “Let it be a surprise.” Mianda talked to J’ten for a little bit longer and then Amauneth said, I’m sorry to disturb you, but I am ready to go now. Mianda nodded and said, “I’m sorry J’ten but I’ve got to be going. I’ll see you at eight.” He nodded and watched as she walked back to her queen. I told you it would go well, Amauneth said as Mianda climbed to her back. “Yes though I didn’t think I’d get a date out of it. I hope it’s not because I ride you.” Amauneth snorted and said, I doubt it. He seemed only interested in me and when you said you rode me he didn’t really seem to care. I think that if he rode a blue he still would have been interested in you. Mianda smiled and said, “Well let’s get home, I’ve got to bathe and dress still. I want to look good tonight." Amauneth warbled and took off for their weyr. ![]() | Journal | Search Story | Stats | |
