![]() Mianda rubbed her dragon’s eyeridges and said, “I’m really glad we’ve finally graduated from that sharding weyrling training aren’t you?” The gold shrugged and said, I am not sure. I enjoyed waking up knowing I had something to actually do, unlike now. Mianda nodded and stroked her gold-white firelizard Nervan ![]() Mianda sighed and stroked Nervan’s head again. “I don’t know really. We can go to the lake or to the hunting grounds or visit another Weyr I suppose. Life is kind of boring during an interval isn’t it?” Amauneth shrugged again and said, Yes a little. I would like it to end so that we might have something to do everyday. I don’t think I’d like to spend my entire life chasing Thread around though do you? Mianda shook her head and said, “No I don’t suppose I would enjoy that much. Would you like to go down to the lake?” Amauneth shifted her weight and said, You’ve changed the subject Mianda, but I don’t mind. I would like to go down to the lake though. I would like to meet some of the males before I rise. Mianda laughed and stood up, putting Nervan on her other shoulder. “Oh alright Amauneth, but I don’t think you’ll be rising all that soon do you?” The gold snorted and looked at her rider as she stood up. How do you know that? She asked. Amauneth landed lightly by the side of the lake and let her rider dismount. “Be nice to those males Amauneth. However, if they say anything that offends you don’t hesitate to put them in their place… nicely.” The gold snorted and said, I have not forgotten that you can hear every dragon and lizard rider mine but you need not worry. I can take care of myself. Mianda nodded and patted her dragon’s shoulder, which she could barely reach. “I don’t doubt that. Go have fun now,” she said as she sat down in the grass and watched as her dragon waded into the water and swam towards a small group of males. She warbled softly as she reached them all they all looked up, crooning a hello. May I join you? Amauneth asked. One of the males, a bronze, looked her over and then said, Of course you can. A gold is always welcomed. I am Gintath by the way, who are you? Amauneth stretched her wings out so that she could float in the water easier and said, I am Amauneth. The males crooned and one of the bronzes in back swam forward a little and said, You are to rise soon are you not? Mianda sighed and put her head in her hands when she heard the bronze say this. “Oh this is not going to be good,” she told herself. Moments later a loud bugle rang through the air and she looked up in time to see her gold, eyes red in fury, take a swipe at the smaller bronze. Amauneth! STOP IT! She called to her dragon. The gold swung her head in her rider’s direction and said, He offended me! Mianda laughed and said, Yes I heard, however, judging by your reaction I’d say he’s right. Apologize Amauneth. The gold rumbled a little more but then did as her rider told her to. When her dragon was calm again she said, “Oh that could have been bad.” A shadow fell over her then and she turned around, seeing a handsome man with a wide smile on his face. “May I sit down?” He asked her. She nodded and he sat next to her, looking out at the gold and the group of bronzes. “That’s your queen huh?” He asked. Mianda smiled and said, “Yeah that’s my Amauneth, would your bronze be the one that upset her?” He shook his head and said, “Oh no, he’s got more sense then that. He’s the large near the front.” She nodded and asked, “Gintath?” He nodded and asked, “Did your gold tell you his name?” She shook her ![]() The man raised an eyebrow and asked, “You heard him say it?” She smiled and nodded. “I can hear every dragon, and firelizard, which tends to become a little overwhelming at times.” He laughed and said, “I didn’t think there were many that could do that anymore. You could probably have helped out a lot during a Fall.” She nodded and watched as her dragon began to swim in lazy circles around the males, “Yes but I won’t have to worry about that. I’m sorry,” she said, “I’m Mianda.” He laughed again and said, “I’m Cr’tomin, I’m not a resident here though, I’m from Dawn Sisters Weyr.” She ran a hand through her hair and said, “I’ve never heard of it, is it on the Northern Continent?” He shook his head and placed a dandelion behind her ear as he replied. “No, Southern Continent actually. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of it though, there was a clutch that just hatched, a greens, but just the same I thought word would have gone out about it.” Mianda shrugged and said, “Well I’ve been so busy as of late that I probably wouldn’t have heard anything anyway. I’ve only recently graduated from weyrling training.” He frowned and asked, “How recent is recently exactly?” She smiled and shook her head, “Oh no, it’s not like I graduated last sevenday. It’s been almost five months now I think.” They talked for a while longer and then Mianda looked out towards her dragon, who was looking towards her. What’s the matter Amauneth? I’ve been trying to shut your conversation out while I was talking. Amauneth sighed and said, My hide looks like one large, golden prune. I think it is time to leave before it becomes so water logged that I cannot take off. Mianda smiled and said, “Alright come out and dry yourself and then we’ll go.” Amauneth warbled in thanks and then Cr’tomin asked, “You’re leaving?” She nodded and he stood up, helping her to her feet. “Yes I’m afraid so. Amauneth just informed me that her hide is so water logged she’s afraid she won’t be able to fly back to the weyr.” He laughed and said, “Well that doesn’t sound very good. It was nice to meet you Mianda, perhaps you’ll choose to grace our sands with your presence when it is time for Amauneth to rise?” Mianda smiled and said, “Perhaps.” ![]() | Journal | Search Story | Stats | |
