Salvari walked down the coastline, Ave, her bronze flitter, flying in circles around her. She tried to spend as much time outside as possible and today she finally got to do this. She bent down and picked up a shell the color of a green dragon’s hide and put it in her pocket. She like to collect things like that, it gave her something to do when she wasn’t forced to do chores. Ave chirped and landed on the beach about a hundred feet ahead of her. She walked towards him quickly and crouched down again. There was a large serrated tooth, probably one of the many types of shakes that swim in this area. She picked this up too and placed in a separate pocket. She scooped Ave up and placed him on her shoulder and then continued walking down the beach, skirt blowing around her and water lapping at her heels.

She walked for about fifteen minutes more and then stopped, looking out at the ocean. There was a large pod of dolphins swimming by, leaping from the water. Salvari brushed her hair out of her face and continued to watch them until they swam out of sight. She reached up at stroked Ave and then turned around, walking back the way she had come. The bronze flitter again flew out in front of her and then landed on a tree, near the incline she walks up to leave the beach. “What have you got there?” She asked him. He chirped an answer and dropped a flat, shiny rock the color of ebony into her hand. “Wow that’s really pretty Ave, now let’s go home.” Ave flew to his owner’s shoulder and then she walked up the incline onto the grass.

When Salvari reached the grass she looked towards her village and sighed. The watch bell was ringing again. “Wonder what’s going on,” she said as she started walking towards the village. Ave sat on her shoulder the entire time, which was unlike him. “What’s the matter Ave?” The bronze chirped but didn’t picture anything, which worried Salvari immensely. As she walked into the village she saw what was troubling him. There were three large dragons sitting in the main courtyard. Salvari rolled her eyes. “Great, dragonriders,” she said as she walked toward her cottage. As she walked in she was greeted but her younger brother. “There’s dragon’s in the courtyard! I bet I’ll be Searched,” he said. “Bet you won’t,” Salvari said flatly. Her brother crossed his arms at her but then smiled and said, “Well at least I’m going to go out there. I bet you’re too scared to stand by them.” Salvari whirled around, eyes flashing. “Bet you six silvers I’m not.” Her brother hesitated but said, “Fine but you’ve gotta talk to one of them too.” Salvari cocked an eyebrow. “Talk to what, a dragon? They don’t talk to anyone but their bonder.” Evad shook his head. “Not true, but I meant a dragonrider anyway.” Salvari shrugged. “Fine, let’s go.” Evad smiled, and walked out the door, closely followed by Salvari.

They walked towards the dragons and stopped about a hundred feet from a large blue dragon. Salvari was beginning to get nervous and she turned to her brother and said, “What am I supposed to say to the dragonrider when he or she comes?” Evad shrugged and said, “That’s up to you.” Salvari rolled her eyes and looked around, trying to see if she could pick out a dragonrider from the rest of the growing crowd. They must have stood there for fifteen minutes before Salvari said anything else. But when she finally did, it surprised even her. “I’ve been standing here waiting for a sharding dragonrider for almost fifteen minutes and I’m beginning to doubt this is worth six silvers.” Her brother was about to say something when someone walked up to them and said. “Well your waiting is over.” He didn’t look very happy but Salvari said, “I’m sorry, I know you’re busy and all but I just had to come out and talk to one of you.” The dragonrider nodded and said, “About what? Are you hoping to Impress?” Salvari was about to say no but changed her mind. “Actually I am.” The dragonrider smiled. “Can I have a name please? I’ll ask Helventh here if he thinks you’re a likely bonder.” Salvari nodded and told him her name. He was silent for a few moments before saying, “Well my dragon seems to think you’d make a wonderful bonder at our Caer. Would you like to go?” Salvari nodded vigorously and said, “Alright, well I’m J'gen and if you’ll come over her I’ll give you a leg up and we can get out of here.”

Salvari did as he said and was soon sitting atop a great blue dragon. J'gen climbed up quickly after her and helped her strap in. After they were ready she looked down at her brother and said, “Tell mom where I went, oh and you owe me money!” Her brother made a rude gesture and then ran back towards their cottage. She shook her head and stroked Ave as J'gen shifted his weight and she felt a great whirlwind of dust and Helventh flapped his mighty wings. As they lifted up off the ground she looked down again. Everything was getting smaller and she’d never noticed how pretty things are when you look down on them. J'gen reached back and touched her shoulder and she looked towards him. “We’re getting ready to teleport now so hold on and don’t worry. We’ll be out again before you know it.” Salvari nodded and breathed deep, getting ready for the freezing nothingness. Helventh made the jump and Salvari felt her fingers fall asleep. She looked around her and felt nothing, saw nothing. She was about to inquire about it when they burst out again, this time above a large Caer. “Welcome to Caer Talor Cliff,” J'gen said.
