S'rac and Bronze Tonaeth
:Adult:

S’rac shut the door softly, it was still early and he didn’t want to wake Sibria. He smiled inwardly and ran his hands through his hair before making his way back up to his room, and his dragon.

As he shut the door to his room behind him his black cavern lizard, Onyx, warbled softly and looked up at his owner. S’rac walked over to him and stroked his head before picking him up and then walking into his dragon’s quarters.

Tonaeth looked up sleepily as his rider walked in and then asked, you had a good time I would assume?

S’rac let Onyx go as he began to struggle and then said, “Well of course I did, why wouldn’t I?”

Tonaeth shrugged and then crooned. I told you that you would thank me some day, he said as he shifted his weight.

S’rac smiled and said, “Yes I know, but I didn’t believe you at the time. I didn’t think anything would come of it.”

Tonaeth warbled and said, Yes who would have known that Sibria would arrive a few days after we had that discussion and that you two would find yourselves together.

S’rac sat down in one of the chairs in the room and said, “Yeah, who would have known. How long has it been now Ton?”

You should know better than I, he replied.

S’rac nodded and said, “I know, I know. However, you have a better memory than I do.”

Tonaeth nodded and said, Yes I am aware of that. He was silent for a moment as he thought and then said, I think it has been about seven months.

“Really?” S’rac asked in wonder. “I hadn’t thought it had been that long yet.”

Tonaeth nodded and said, In fact, if I am remembering correctly, I believe it has almost been eight months next sevenday.

S’rac rubbed his chin, as he usually did when he was deep in thought, and then asked, “I should probably get her something nice shouldn’t I?”

That would probably be a good idea rider-mine, Tonaeth said as Onyx climbed up onto his neck.

S’rac frowned and asked, “What do I get her though? I mean, I’ve been with her seven months and I still have no idea what she likes.”

Tonaeth snorted and said, I believe that is quite a problem S’rac and I would not suggest asking her what she wants either.

“What? Why not?” S’rac asked in confusion.

Tonaeth sighed and said, It is sad that I know this and you do not rider-mine. You know how females will be when you don’t know what they want after a certain amount of time.

S’rac nodded and said, “How about a cavern lizard? I’m sure she’d like one of those if I can manage to find one.”

Tonaeth shrugged and said, Perhaps, but I will leave this to you now though. I am going to go down to the lake and sunbathe.

S’rac looked up as he dragon got up and asked, “Which female are you after now Tonaeth? I haven’t seen you flirting with the females since you were a senior fledgling.”

The bronze shrugged and said, I will let you know when I have found a female that suits me.

“You can’t possibly be that picky Ton,” S’rac said as he stood up.

Why not, may I ask? There are many females in this Cavern, as well as many other females that are living at other Caverns. Would you rather I just flirt with all of them, or choose one that I fancy over the others? Tonaeth asked, slightly irritated.

“I suppose I would rather you flirt with the one that strikes you as the best,” S’rac said, patting his dragon on the shoulder.

Tonaeth nodded and warbled, walking over to the ledge and flying off towards the Cavern Lake, closely followed by Onyx.

S’rac sighed and walked back into the other room, pacing in thought for a moment and then flopping down in own of the ancient armchairs. He had barely even been sitting for ten minutes when there was a light knock on the door.

He sighed and stood up, walking over to the door and opening it. He jumped slightly when he saw that it was Sibria. He looked her over and smiled, seeing her hair was still a mess and that he clothes had been put on rather hastily.

He reached out to embrace her but she took a step back, brushing back a lock of hair that was in her face. “What’s that matter?” He asked her as he also took a step back.

She frowned and looked up at him. S’rac, I need to talk to you about something.”

His heart stopped for a second and he thought, Oh by Faranth, if she’s pregnant I’m going to kill myself. He forced a smile instead and stepped aside, letting her enter his room and then closing the door behind him.

Sibria sat down in one of the armchairs and S’rac sat down in the own across from her, waiting for her to speak. It was quite a while before she did but when the words started to fall from her mouth they seemed to his S’rac like lead weights.

“S’rac I’m not sure where this relationship is going anymore. I’m at the point where I want children, but I know you don’t feel the same. I just think our paths are going off in different directions right now,” she said as she looked S’rac over.

He frowned and said, “Sibria, you’ve never asked me whether or not I wanted children. I mean, if you want a child that badly than I will go along with your wishes.”

“But you wouldn’t be happy with it,” Sibria said. “Besides, I know that I’m never going to bond a dragon so Tonaeth wouldn’t have a mate, ever, and I would feel bad for making him go through that.”

S’rac sighed and asked, “Is there someone else?”

Sibria didn’t respond immediately, which made S’rac’s instinct tell him that there was another man that Sibria had been seeing behind his back.

“Err, I just feel like we’re going in separate directions S’rac and that you and your dragon wouldn’t be happy if you stayed with me and we ended up having children,” She said after a slight hesitation.

He nodded and said, “So that’s it.”

She nodded in response and then stood up, walking out the door and leaving S’rac alone.

He sighed after a moment and sat up, calling to his dragon. Nevermind about that present for Sibria, he said as he got up from the chair and walked into his dragon’s quarters.

You’re not going to get her anything? Tonaeth asked from his spot at the lake.

S’rac shook his head as he walked out onto the ledge and sat down. No, she was just here and broke up with me.

Tonaeth bugled and asked, Why rider-mine? Why would she do that?”

S’rac shrugged and said, She said we were going in separate directions but when I asked her if there was another man she hesitated, and didn’t answer right away, which leads me to believe that there was someone she was seeing behind my back.

Tonaeth crooned and said, I am sorry S’rac.

S’rac sighed and said, Me too.
