Introduction

Grading Criteria

I. The student must have trained at least twice weekly for 4 months between grades up to 5th Kyu. For 4th to 2nd Kyu there must be at least a period of 8 months in between each grading and 12 months for 1st Kyu.

II. For grading to 4th Kyu the Candidate must have completed the Assistant Instructor Course and taught novices at least twice a month in the period prior to the grading, under the supervision of the Club Instructor

For grading to 2nd Kyu the Candidate must have completed the Instructor Course and taught junior grades at least twice a month in the period prior to the grading, under the supervision of the Club Instructor

For grading to 1st Kyu the Candidate must have completed the Club Instructor Course and taught the Club at least twice a month in the period prior to the grading, under the supervision of the Club Instructor and have the knowledge of how to run and teach a Club.

For grading to 1st Dan the candidate must have taught and ran a Club, in the position of Club Instructor for 18 months prior to their grading

III. Any Candidate without a suit for the grading will not be eligable to grade.

IV. Any Candidate with long nails, dirty suit or incorrectly tied belt will not be eligable to grade.

V. Once the grading starts, there will be no talking, whispering or joking by the Candidates.

VI. Failure to rei to the grading panel at the commencement of the Candidates first routine will result in an instant failure.

VII. If a Candidate loses his or her temper during the grading, this too will result in an instant failure.

VIII. Each Candidate must produce a valid TJF Australasia membership before commencement of the grading.

IX. A Candidate can only be nominated to grade by his or her Club Instructor. For grading to 1st Kyu and above the Candidate must be nominated by their Senior Instructor and their Mentor.
