PRESS RELEASE

Subject: Local Ottawa Kayakers to hold Paddle-'n-Potluck event
September 28, 2003

A local kayaking club, Touring Kayakers Ottawa-Outaouais (TK2O), will hold their Annual Paddle-'n-Potluck Get-Together at NCC's Shirley's Bay beach area on the Ottawa River on Sunday 28th September, 2003. Informal paddle times are a choice of morning or afternoon. Potluck tasting/prize-giving time is from noon to 2 p.m.

Both TK2O members and non-members are invited.

Prizes, donated by local kayaking outfitters, will be awarded to chefs offering the tastiest and/or most original morsels.

The "entrance fee" to enjoy potluck tasting requires participants bring a minimum of 20 bite-size morsels of typical kayaking camp food for sampling by others. Cooking/heating of food (if required) is only permitted on fuel-type stoves. No wood-fuelled arrangement is permitted. There are no picnic barbecues facilities at this beach.

Participants may divulge their secret recipes to others if they so wish. Tip for tasters: bring you own knife, fork, spoon and plate or napkins with which to hold and eat yummy samples.

Ample parking (2 areas) and a user-friendly put-in launch ramp are available at NCC's Shirley's Bay beach area. The beach can be reached by heading north 1. 7 km on Moodie from the Queensway up to Carling. Then turn left or west onto Carling and drive 2.3 km to Rifle (Range) Road. Then turn right or north on Rifle Road and drive 1.1 km to the beach.

For more information call Mike Lomas, TK2O Secretary at 613 233-0522.
