Absences, Late Work Policy, and Make up
Tests
Absences:
1. Excused
Absences:
a.
Turn in work that
was due the day that you were absent, the first day you return to class. If you
do not turn it in the day you return it is considered Late (see Late Work
section below)
b.
Check Learning
Point or www.oocities.org/tkgiffin
for assignments that you missed on the days you were absent and turn in the
assignments the day you return to class.
c.
If you did not
check for missed assignments and you find out about them the day that you
return to class, you may turn them in for full credit the following day.
d.
If you do not
turn in your assignments the following day, you must come to tutorial within
one week of the last day of your absence and turn in or make up any missed work
at that tutorial.
e.
Missed work or
tests must be made up within one week unless other arrangements have been made
with Mrs. Giffin. You will receive a zero on assignments not turned in
according to this time schedule.
2.
Unexcused Absences:
a.
You may not make up work you missed on the day you
were absent Unexcused. You will
receive a zero for those assignments.
b.
Turn in work that
was due the day you were absent unexcused, the day you return to class and you
may be able to receive PARTIAL CREDIT.
c.
If you do not
turn in work the day you return or you do not check for the assignments you
missed that are due the day you return, you may
receive a zero. You may come to tutorial within one week of the absence to
discuss making up missed work for partial credit but there are not guarantees.
Late Work Policy:

No late work.
Some exceptions may apply on a case by case basis. (See Mrs. Giffin if you need
to turn something in late)
e.
Partial Credit
may be given if assignment is turned in one day late. More than one day late assignments, must be turned in at tutorial within one week
of the due date.
f.
Assignments over
a week late will receive a zero.
Make up Tests:
1. Excused Absence on Test Day:
a.
If you are absent the day of a test, you should be ready to take the test the day you
return to class. If other arrangements have been made with Mrs. Giffin you must
schedule a Make up test.
b.
Make up tests
must be taken within one week of the last day of the absences that caused you
to miss the test. They can be taken by arrangement with Mrs. Giffin, at
tutorial.
2. Excused
Absence the day before Test Day:
a.
If you are absent (excused) the day before a test,
you are still responsible for studying and taking the test on the day it is
scheduled. Make sure you check the website or call a friend for the review
notes. If you are unable to take the test because you have been absent for more
than one day or you were physically unable to study, you must see Mrs. Giffin
to make up the test the following day or schedule a make up test within one
week.
2. Unexcused Absence Test Day or the day before:
a.
No make up
allowed.
b.
You must take the
test the day it is scheduled.
