Black and Green

This project took place about 7 to 8 months prior to me posting this page. Reason for procrastination? Lack of digital camera and laziness.

One day, you buy cheapo $20 ATX case from the computer shop...not for looks...not for anything really, but just as a place to put your parts for some junk server you want to make. Or at least that's what I did.

After successfully building Clear Box I no longer had a use for my junk ATX case with it's plain white paint and cheesy looking plastic front. The first thing that sucked about the case was the cooling sucked, one rear fan and that was it. On top of it the grill was just a bunch of poorly punched out holes. Barely any air was getting through. It wasn't hard to put a bunch of holes in the case for some additional fans, but the plastic front had to go. But if I replaced the front, I had to give it some new paint, black paint.

Unfortunately I lost the pictures of the case before I modded it. So my description is all I have to offer. I still have the plastic front cover I replaced. One of these days I'll dig it out and take a picture.

Goal

The goal was simple: make a kick-ass computer case out of a cheapo ATX case. After much staring at the computer case taken appart, I decided on how many fans, their locations, a green plexi door-opening front, and some mirror finish black paint.

Pictures:

These pictures aren't that great due to my sucky lighting. Maybe one day I'll have a chance to take some pictures of it outside. The flash on the camera was making the plexi look more like plastic and the black paint isn't very photogenic. I admit my paint job isn't the best, but the case does look better than the pictures suggest.
