ISSRL - Infineon - Round 21
Round 21 of the ISSRL Downunder League kicked off at the technical Infineon Raceway. Fast man in Qualifying was once again Daniel Wood with a quick 1.09.1 sec lap. On Grid two we saw TWM's Shane Challis followed by David Turnbull on three. Rounding out the top four qualifiers was Craig Brock. TWM's other drivers raced off grid six (Wayne Glanville), grid ten (Jason Dellaway) & grid fourteen (Jeremy Downie).
From the outset, turn one & two were always going to be problematic. Here we see TWM's Jason Dellaway in the K-Mart sponsored Corvette unintentionally punt the Viper of Terry Rhodes. This resulted in a rather nasty chain of events as some of the following drivers will attest. Meanwhile, at the front of the field, pole-sitter Daniel Wood was already beginning to make his presence felt by setting a blistering  pace. p of the green it was clear that
Here we see the first major retirement of the night. Series leader Brett Stone had the unfortunate luck of running into Terry Rhodes who was still reeling from the Jason Dellaway incident. After a blown engine in qualifying , Brett already had a monumental task if he was to catch those who are threatening his Championship bid. All in all a very sad sight for one of the real contenders.
At the end of the day it was a good showing by Team Wasp Motorsports. Our four representatives done us proud with the following results:

6th.....Wayne Glanville
10th.....Jason Dellaway
12th.....Shane Challis
14th...Jeremy Downie

Great work & well done guys. I'll see you all on the track for Round 22 at Le Mans.

Cheers,

Here we see the TWM pairing off Wayne Glanville & Jeremy Downie battling it out against the Corvettes of Craig brock & Daniel Greenwood. It was certainly good to see Craig back as he showed some real pace earlier on in the season. We all certainly hope the trend of drivers returning is a common occurrence.
After making an unforced error three turns from the start/finish line, TWM's Shane Challis made an early exit from the nights racing. My apologies to Daniel Greenwood to whom I stupidly pulled out in front of whilst trying to recover from my earlier mistake. This track has certainly proven to be a thorn in my side with three races all finishing in DNF's. Back to the drawing board I think.................
Here we see the Saker Motorsports pairing of Brett Young & David Turnbull on their way to a great teams effort. After the smoke had cleared David come home in second place followed by teammate Brett in third. Great work guys & a special mention must go out to Brett for a gutsy and determined effort in grabbing that third position from Pat Lynch in the closing stages of the race.
TWM's first Driver home was Wayne Glanville with a well deserved sixth place. Jason Dellaway came home in a respectable tenth place after a tough night at the office.
Once again, our flying friend Daniel Wood from Torbay in Auckland, proved that he is definately the man to beat  by winning his tenth round of the season. I'm sure everyone agrees that you have raised the bar considerably in the last few rounds Dan resulting in some outstanding results.
Here is a sight that no-one likes to see. TWM's Jeremy Downie pays the ultimate price as man & engine decide to part company on lap six. From the damage/race report, it looks like one of the GT40's pistons decided enough was enough and called it quits. Bad luck Jeremy, hopefully at Le Mans you have much better luck.
