ISSRL - Kyalami - Round 23
Round 23 of the ISSRL Downunder League kicked off at the very fast Kyalami Raceway. Fast man in Qualifying was once again Daniel Wood with a quick 1.12.6 second lap. On Grid two we saw TWM's Shane Challis followed by Brett Stone on three. Rounding out the top four qualifiers was Warwick Browne. TWM's other drivers raced off grid seven (Jeremy Downie), grid eleven (Wayne Glanville) & grid twelve (Jason Dellaway).
Here we see a shot of the ISSRL guys going into turn one of lap one. Daniel Wood has the lead followed by the Skyline of Shane Challis. In third & fourth we see the Australian duo of Brett Stone & Warwick Browne followed closely by the Saker Motorsports pairing of David Turnbull and Brett Young. the green it was clear that
In this shot we see the unfortunate accident between Series leader Daniel Wood and backmarker Brett Young. It was an unfortuante incident and one that in my opinion could have been avoided. I know that lapped traffic don't have to 'give way' to the leaders but 'racing' the leaders when you are obviously off the pace will always result in heartache for someone. In this case it probably cost Daniel the race and with it the Championship lead. Enough said.
At the end of the day it was a good showing by Team Wasp Motorsports. Our four representatives did an outstanding job culminating in the following results:

1st.....Shane Challis
5th....Jeremy Downie
7th.....Jason Dellaway
8th.....Wayne Glanville

Great work & well done guys. I'll see you all on the track for Round 24 at Karjala.

Cheers,

Here we see the Red & Black TWM Pirteck of Wayne Glanville trailing Daniel Wood. Wayne went on to record an eighth place finish even after having a few problems. Well done Wayne.
Here we see TWM's very own Shane Challis (In his new ride) take the Chequered Flag. It has certainly been a long time between drinks but definately worth the wait. Second place went to Brett Stone (+ 7 seconds) with David Turnbull in third (+ 33 seconds). Rounding out the top four was Z Bazzil (+ 1 Lap) in fourth.
In this shot we see the Orange & Black TWM Pirtek of Jeremy Downie absorbing pressure from a hard charging Corvette. I'm sure Jeremy derived great pleasure from showing some of the 'Chevy' boys how it's done. Great job Jeremy and congratulations for a well deserved fifth place.

In this shot we see Jason Dellaway in the K-Mart Corvette about to take on Daniel Greenwood. With another exceptional drive by one of our drivers, Jason cemented down a outstanding seventh place. Well done Jason.
