Links

Here is a list of interesting links on many different subjects

Sundials

  • The sundial of Tenango de Doria is listed at the North American Sundial Society's site. Just scroll down on the list in the right and click on Mexico. The site has an awesome collection of links to all things sundial.

  • Shadows is a good program for those who want to make a sundial and are not very sure how to go about it. The author has put lots of time and effort in creating and upgrading this site.

  • Fourmilab is a fantastic collection of scientific, astronomic, mathematics and general interest programs and utilities, all created by one guy. Among my favorite are the earth viewer, calendar converter, and home planet, but there are many others.

Woodcarving, enameling and other arts

  • I am listed at the woodcarver's web, a comprehensive list of craftsmen and wood artisans. From the home page click on Individual Links and then on Mexico.

  • And also in the Fine Woodcarving Webring. There's lots of very accomplished craftsmen listed here. When I see the work of other masters I feel like an apprentice.

  • My site also appears in the enamellist webring. By the way, in this web rings you can find people with whom you can share your interest on almost any conceivable subject. If you don't find what you want you can always create a new subject.

Tenango de Doria

  • Here you can find some official general information about the town.

  • This is an article on the weavings of San Nicolas, a town 8 miles from Tenango, where they make the same kind of weavings. In spanish.

  • A good article on the Huapango, a popular dance from Tenango and Hidalgo. In spanish.

Here are a couple of very interesting articles about Tenango and its surroundings written by James Dow, an American anthropologist who has visited and lived there for some periods of time.

Web design

Here are a few links to sites that offer great help when designing your web site:

  • Javascript.internet - lots of scripts and links to other sites.

  • Javaboutique - this is the place to go to get the applets and goodies for your site.

  • Add Me! AddMe Free Search Engine Submission is where you go if you want to add a bit more traffic to your site. At least you will know that your site is in a few search engines. Click on the logo.

Aztec cosmology

  • A good series of articles on nahui ollin and the cosmology of the aztec calendar is at Earth/matriX. Their home page looks quite interesting. I haven't been through all of their stuff but one of these days when I have the time I will spend a few hours here.

  • There is this site on the Aztec Calendar and many of its interpretations. In spanish and english. Lots of information.

  • And then there is this excellent site on the Aztec pantheon, mythology and history.

Social consciousness

  • Alternet has very interesting articles on current affairs. Something different from the crap that you get on TV and your daily newspapers.

  • Tikkun is an enlightened place for people "involved in healing and repairing the world". Special emphasis on the Israeli/Palestinian affair.

  • Fraternet, for those who speak french. Un site pour la promotion de la Paix et de la Fraternité.
