Week 34 - A fun week with Grandpa Roger! He was here for a conference, but stayed at our house, so we got to see a lot of him. We had a good time going out to eat at our favorite rib joint, shopping at the annual Patagonia Outlet sale (Peyton scored big-time on winter wear!), bike riding, and watching movies. The two highlights of his visit were Peyton's first Utah Utes football game (U beat Texas A&M 41-21) and Peyton's first bird hunting trip (shot 5 pheasant and 4 chukar). |
Week 35 - Grandma Carla arrived on Friday afternoon to spend Labor Day weekend with us and Grandpa. We drove out west to the Deep Creek Mountains to do some hiking and camping. What a unique experience! We drove through the vast nothingness of the Great Salt Lake Desert and found ourselves in a spectacular oasis in the Deep Creeks. We had a LONG day of hiking on Sunday, but we made it to the top of Ibapah Peak at 12,080 feet. It was Peyton's first peak summit, and he celebrated by getting his diaper changed on top of the mountain! |
Week 36 - Peyton is perfecting a lot of new developments this week. He's getting great at using that little pincer grasp to pick up small objects, he's using his little tiny pointer finger alone to point at anything and everything, he's using one toy to bat at another toy, and he's getting good at standing alone for up to 30 seconds at a time. He is also drooling like a little faucet again...perhaps the top teeth will be making their appearance soon? |
Week 37 - Another nice and quiet week, just the 3 (or should I say 5?) of us. More developments include: trying Cheerios for the first time, putting binking in all by himself, and the biggest highlight...FIRST STEPS!!! Hooray! After a little coaching and coaxing, Peyton took TWO full steps from Mommy to Daddy. He was so proud of himself!!!! |
Week 38 - Grandma Diana is here for the week! Peyton celebrated her arrival by popping out a new tooth! The top left front tooth is just peeking through his gums. We traveled to Hurricane, Utah for the weekend to watch Daddy in his first 1/2-Ironman triathlon. He had a disappointing race due to bike problems, and had to drop out early. We were sad for him, but we're looking forward to cheering him on in more races next summer. On our way home, we had lunch in Zion Nat'l Park, a fun treat. Monday featured Peyton's first trip to the Hogle Zoo here in Salt Lake. Grandma and Mommy went along, and we all had fun looking at the animals. Grandma left for home on Tuesday afternoon, and that night Peyton surprised us all by demonstrating a new trick that Grandma had taught him, but he'd not done alone before...he cralwed DOWN the stairs! What a big boy! |
