INTRODUCTION

In December of 1967, I decided that my life was in more trouble than I could realistically handle. At that point, while in the midst of all of those struggles, I asked the ìord to forgive me for all of my sins and to put my life on a path which would lead me out of those difficulties. Twenty-eight years later, I must now report that He was faithful to do just that. He changed me from the inside out, then He changed the dreadful circumstances of my entire life. Since that night in 1967, I have experienced the joys of knowing the God of the universe, the one and only Creator of all that is. Therefore, I have, through the years, studied the Bible with great diligence, in hopes of someday being able to understand all that really happened to me on and after that night when I came to Him. Most people in this life, for one reason or another, never accept this free gift of salvation which has been provided by God to everyone. Of those who do, unfortunately, most never get to where they really understand the true essence of what that great gift of salvation even means.

Therefore, this book has been written for three specific purposes. The first is to present the many evidences which exist to support the Christian Faith, namely those evidences which show that God is real, that Jesus is Lord, and that the Bible is the true Word of God. These chapters will help all Christians to better understand the solid foundation upon which Christianity stands. They will also show those who are not Christians that this whole "religious" thing is real! From there, the second purpose of this book will be to share the pure, utter logic of God's Salvation Plan, to show how and why God's Plan is the only true Plan, and also to reveal that it is the only Plan which really makes sense. After that, the third and final objective will be to briefly explain how, through Jesus Christ, an individual can have a personal, right relationship with the God Who created them. That part of the discussion will then be followed up with some simple, but still important spiritual principles for showing everyone how to live a life that can be pleasing to God.

In all, I have spent most of my free time over these past five and a half years either directly researching or actually writing this book. During that period, I have had the help and encouragement of many. Therefore, in grateful appreciation to just a few, I would like to specifically thank some of those friends who have most encouraged me in this effort. They are Tom Blackwell, Marilyn Johnson, Norm Reece, John McCunniff, Gary Goodman, Marshall and Bobbie Taylor, Bruce Young, Betty Harmon, Teeny Womble, Rob Huffman, Sheri Lutman, Anita Wood, Janet Willard, Dan Walters, Mike Pierce, Eric Kujala, George Moore, John Shields, the Reverend Dale Burden, John and Kay Pulliam, Larry and Joanna Beard, Julie Settle, Sharon Stewart, and Ken VanScoy. I would like to thank the men in my Friday morning Christian Fellowship group who have been a great encouragement. They are Norm Reece, Tom Blackwell, Jim Martino, and Chris Harrington. Lastly, I would like to thank and express my genuine appreciation to four individuals who have specifically counseled me concerning my writing techniques. Because of these four, this entire work should be much more presentable. They are Phil Zaccagni (now deceased), Warren Walters, Gary Goodman, and Barbara West.

A final thank you must be extended to my Savior and Lord, Jesus. I am grateful for the new life which I have received in Him, I am grateful that He has given me the knowledge and ability to even attempt this work, I am grateful for answered prayers, and I am pleased for the peace which I have felt over these past five and a half years as I have labored on this book. In a few moments, my part in all of this will be done, and I will, then, turn this whole project over to Him. From that moment on, how far this book goes and before whose eyes it comes will be a matter of His business, not mine. Through it all, though, may Christ be the One who gets all the honor and glory for what He has done and continues to do in the hearts and lives of those who trust Him.
