Works by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.

This is the memorial to Clolonel Shaw, leader of the all black regiment, the Massachusets 54th.
This unit was the star of the movie "Glory". The statue is on The Common, Boston MA.

A memorial to General Sherman in NYC at the Grand Army Plaza.

A detail of the statue.

This relief is a reworking of the angels that were modeled for the tomb of New York governor Edwin Morgan. These angels were destroyed by fire and the tomb never completed. The figure appears, with variations, in Philadelphia and in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Tarrytown, New York. The Latin title translates as "Angel of Charity."

Here is a memorial to Admiral Farragut the great Civil War Union hero.
It is in Madison Square Park in NYC.
His friend, Sanford White designed the pedestal.

Saint-Gaudens gold eagle ten dollar coin.
When Teddy Roosevelt carped that American coins were too bland, Saint-Gauden designed a new one.
This is the obverse.

This is the reverse.
Notice it doesn't have the motto, "In God We Trust".
I prefer this design since the eagle seems more natural.

His Most Famous Work.

The famous Saint-Gaudens gold double eagle twenty dollar coin.
This is the obverse.
This is the reverse.
This as you can see, is one of the few US coins that does not have "In God We Trust", ie the motto.
Also rare is the date, 1907, in Roman numerals.
I really can't believe eagles fly like this, so this coin rates a distant second to me!
