The Woolworth Building.

This building, at 233 Broadway, is a unique example of Cass Gilbert's Neo-Gothic style. As such it rates its own ZIP Code, 10279.

Battle Hall at UTexas, Austin, TX.
This building, designed by Cass Gilbert, around 1907, was new building of the year for 1909. It caught F. W. Woolworth's eye and inspired him to use Gilbert as Chief Architect for his building.

Completed in 1913, it was, for a short while, the tallest building in the world.
When completed its 59 floors reached a height of 792 feet.
There are 1.3 million rentable square feet in it. Rather modest when compared with the ESB's 2.4 million square feet!

This is the side door. Note most of the motifs were probably inspired by Notre Dame in Paris, which is considered Gothic in style.

Here's a shot of the lobby ceiling.
It is laid with colored glass in Byzantine/Early Christian style.

The front door with the address 233 clearly visible.
