This quote represents a feeling inside of Wilson after he saw Myrtle hit by the car.  He feels that since people are going to try to cover things up dealing with the accident. Even though something might have happened and people have lied about it and will never know the real truth, there will always be god who knows the truth. God will always see everything that goes on in everyone's life. The twist to this quote is that when Wilson said this he thought he knew what really happened he thought that since god knows what really happened that he wont be punished by god in what he is about to do (kill Gatsby), But in the actual fact it wasn't Gatsby and god will know that.
