Love Commentary |
A main theme is this book is love, the question remains.....did
anyone really find true love? Its almost like the only "love" happening
in this story is for revenge. Gatsby has strong feelings of love for
Daisy, however Daisy isn't sure if she loves Tom or Gatsby. most of
this book is about Gatsby's struggle to find true love. when he
thinks he finally found it.
Daisy runs away with Tom, Myrtle thought that Tom loved her, and it seems like all three characters are torn between each other in a big love triangle. Daisy is torn between Tom and Gatsby, tom is torn between Daisy and Myrtle, and Myrtle is torn between Wilson and Tom. In the end everyone ended up with their original love. Except for Gatsby, he got nothing, just like what he started out with. Gatsby may have had all that money a big house, almost everything. but he didn't have the kind of relationships that you need in life and that made his downfall in the end. Gatsby never had a good relationship with his dad and I think that is one of the reasons he didn't know how to have a good relationship in his older life. BWh |
