| There could be a connection here to owl eyes. The way that the woman is on a stretcher indicates that something bad has happened. Owl eyes appears in scenes where bad things happen. He is in the car when it looses its wheel and he also appears at Gatsby's funeral. Drunkenness seems to be a symbol of bad events happening, as well as moments of truth because owl eyes speaks the truth when he is intoxicated such as when he talks about Gatsby's books. Drunks appear throughout the book and there is a definite significance to this. |
