The West

The young Greek, Michealis felt slightly guilty. It had been almost two days since George Wilson took revenge for the loss of his wife. He knew that he could have stopped George, but he wasn't there. George was mad, the events of the past few month had done it to him, and Michealis knew all about what was happening with George Wilson. He knew that Wilson's wife was having an affair with another man, he knew that Wilson was losing business. and he knew that George suffered from occasional insomnia. All of this together was slowly driving Wilson mad. It was Michealis who suggested to George that he travel west. Michealis knew that going west would be good for George. Michealis found that the west was a place of life. He had heard of the things that had happened in the west there was more there. It was not as tainted as it was in the east. In the west there was youth. More and more people in the west seemed to be youthful. Michealis knew many people from the west who, in his opinion, were better off staying there than coming here. The occurrences of a few days past really seemed to remind him of this. How a man could lose his wife, his sanity and his life all in one night could only happen in the east. Yet, in the west there was longing. People left the west to come to the east because they longed for something, something that they didn't have in the west. Michealis knew this only too well because of the people who came to his store. Most of them had the same story, they longed for the east, but they belonged in the west, but to them the west was death, not youth like Michealis saw it. Those people hated the west so much, Michealis did not know why. So Michealis' only opinion on the west was that it was youth to those who weren't there, but to those who were there and longed for the east it was death. But this only confused Michealis as to why anyone could hate their home, so he dismissed it and prepared his shop for its opening hours... |
