Flowered once

Flowered is used synonymously to blossomed.  This is a connection to the kiss between Daisy and Gatsby when she "blossomed for him like a flower" -page 117.  At this point Nick describes the incarnation to be complete.  In this paragraph it represents men seeking something they long for.  While the flower is a bud we are anxious to see it grow, and it flowers once and is something truly amazing.
On page 116 the flowers are said to be crushed when Gatsby is worried about how Daisy feels about him after his party.  The crushed flowers resemble his crushed dream of making Daisy happy and being with him.
Gatsby's parties are always decorated with flowers symbolizing opportunities and hopes each time.  Also, Daisy is named after a flower, showing that she is the object of Gatsby's desire.
