Daisy says these words in the very beginning of the book when she’s telling Nick about Jordan and where they both came from. She says this very dreamily, as if she wished that her girlhood had never ended. I’m not quite so sure as to the significance of the word white is, other than purity and innocence. Daisy reminisces of the days where she could float by without any responsibilities or a care in the world. Then again, in some ways she still does. She doesn't seem to be a very deep person, and comes off a little ditzy - for lack of a better word. |
