A.     Pen (blue or black) or Pencil.

B.     A separate, three ring binder for E.S.L. ONLY with looseleaf paper divided into one section for each E.S.L. class period.  You should label each with the period number that you come to E.S.L. class and you should keep ALL your work for each period in the proper section. (Due by 9/10/07)

II. Grading Policy; All assignments will have equal weight in computing your class average. On occasion, an assignment will be worth 2 grades.

A.     Quizzes.

B.     Class Work.

C.     Writing. Usually there will be a "rough copy" grade and a edited rewrite grade. All critical lens essays will be worth 2 grades.

D.      Newspaper Summaries. Usually there will be 3 grades for each newsarticle summary; the oral presentation, open notebook quiz and written summary. There will be approximately 4 news article summary assignments each quarter.

III. Basic Class Rules

A.     Do not interrupt  anyone by calling out.

B.     Enter the classroom before the second bell, and immediately get started working on the “Do Now”.  If you enter late, you will get a late mark and for every two late marks, a cut slip will be handed into the dean.

C.     Always come to class prepared with pen, notebook, and loose-leaf paper.

Keep this paper in the back of your notebook at all times.
