Prince Edward Island is nestled in the waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the East Coast of Canada. Measuring only 224 kms by 40 kms and totalling 1,400,000 acres, Prince Edward Island is Canada's smallest province. Located in a region called Atlantic Canada, the surrounding provinces are Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland & Labrador.

This beautiful province consists of three regions - Prince, Queens, and Kings County. There are two cities on P.E.I. The smaller of the two is Summeride, which is located in East Prince. The larger city, Charlottetown, is in Queen's County and is also the capital of the province.

To get to P.E.I., you would have three choices of transportation - By car via The Confederation Bridge, a ferry ride from Nova Scotia, or, by plane.

Because of P.E.I.'s small population (app. 138,000), the people here, for the most part, enjoy quiet, peaceful lives. Many of the people here earn their living through farming or fishing. Another large part of our economy also depends on the tourism industry.

The Island is known for many things, such as our beaches, Province House, The Confederation Bridge, it's red soil, and of course, Anne of Green Gables.

Cavendish, located in the central part of the Island, is a favorite tourist destination. There's something for everyone here, from taking walks on the long, sandy beaches to enjoying a day of water slides and rides at the amusement parks.

Anne of Green Gables House, also located in Cavendish, is one of the main attractions on the Island. The story of the young orphan girl being adopted by a sister and brother from the island has entertained people for many years. During the summer, you can see the play at the Confederation Center of the Arts in Charlottetown.

In downtown Charlottetown, next to the Confederation Center, is the historic building where the birth of Canada took shape - Province House.
This is where, in 1864, the idea of national union was first discussed. The meeting that took place here led to the formation of Canada. Every summer there are two festivals that celebrate the birth of our nation - The Festival of Lights, and the Festival of the Fathers.
