After many months of lengthy research I have found the prison I seek. Grandfather, the renowned building designer and kitchenless master of Feng-Shui, constructed a military outpost without a way to incarcerate those individuals who would most deserve it. Master Weisshund has been most put out as of late having to speedily send escorts with various brigands and war prisoners to Gannaway for holding. My most remarkable intellect has identified that this situation is not remotely efficient while the soldiers here at the Keep have stylishly characterized it as "a royal pain in the ass."
Three months ago Master Weisshund had some sappers and architects come to surmise the possibility of adding a prison chamber to the complex by digging further into the mountain. They said that because of the way the Keep was built, there could be no further mining without compromising the stability of the whole structure, especially because of the breakaway road. Thanks grandfather. Rather than risk toppling the Keep into the ravine, Master Weisshund wisely did not dig the prison. Being nothing like the Ducal Palace, we have no rooms to spare here, so we cannot convert an existing room into a cell. So I took it upon myself to create a magical prison to solve this little problem for the captain.
My research began in a chronomancer's text on stasis. I knew ahead of time that emotion magic for incarceration is generally punitive and cruel. I knew of one methodology through emotatum and bondi that would confine an individual but where? and we would still have to feed and care for the prisoners. Out of sight, out of heart. I wanted to squelch escape possibilities and give the Keep soldiers a break from dealing with yet another task. I figured defending the freedom of Berghof to be sufficient for them.
So I knew it had to be stasis, but then what would we do with the corpii? Stack them in the storage room like wood until they were released? In my research of stasis, Borduscio mentions in his work realms of "time" and "not time." He described our reality as one of time where things undergo the effects of positive and neutral energy, i.e., motion, decay, growth, entropy. He suggests that "not time" is a negative energy state that reduces variation and possibility to nil and is a force of static energy. Now if not time is a manifestation of negative energy or even the other way around then it touches on issues of negative energy creatures otherwise known as the living dead. Thus, Borduscio ended his research of not time right there with partial discovery and primarily theory because of the danger associated.
The simple fact is that a not time realm lacks all things. A traveler to the negative energy reality would not be set upon by myriad wraiths and shadows because neither can a physical being or any being exist there. The mere fact of "coming" is a state change that the negative reality cannot abide so a traveler can not "come" to that place. Moreover, negative energy creatures cannot set upon anything at all because to "set upon" suggests a change in will or direction. We suspect the negative energy not time reality is a soup of dark energy that acts as a reservoir that leaks into other possibilities bringing static elements to other realities. The physical undead, i.e., those with physical bodies undergo a partial decay but never completely. The negative energy holds the flesh together preventing change though traumatic assault may overcome the negative link and tear the body asunder.
The necromancer Rivestus successfully identified the non-substantial link connecting the living dead with the negative realm. In fact, he witnessed the hidden effects of that link being severed by a priest with his symbol. What he describes is a positive energy link to the priest with the symbol acting as a focal point for the energy to be drawn and emitted in a broad ray. The energy travels from the positive realm flowing like a continuous stream through the person and out of the symbol. The rays strike the undead and if the positive energy overcomes the negative link then that link is severed and the body immediately begins a process of rapid decay, sometimes explosively so, an affectation of the change positive energy creates especially versus a negative energy stream. Despite what some more despicable sects may say, all energy flowing through a living being is positive, so even evil priests are positively enlivened, but their symbols act as a catalyst to convert positive energy to a more neutral sort. Negative energy not being a very active powers as it does not emit rays or bolts for such emissions are far too much movement for it to generate, it instead draws positive energy to it. Many undead drain life. This is the organisms life being pulled away to be converted to negative energy to empower the dark energy reservoir within the creature.
This whole study intrigued me, though. If negative energy is the life force of the living dead and yet it is a totally static energy disallowing change wherever it dominates reality, what is it? And for those pure negative energy creatures such as wraiths who do suffer change in form, state, sound, and motivation, why can they do this? Look at what the living dead are. They are a husk inhabited by or they are simply an unlife energy. But another thing that can be seen in any more sentient undead are powerful emotions. They burn to feed on life or contain within them a bitter hatred as though that hate energy even keeps them "alive."
But the living dead are not my intended focus here. I just recognize an emotive path into negative energy through their natures. If negative energy is emotive, then I can use it. But if the negative realm is a place without change, a place of not time, then how can emotion exist there either? Now this is where my exquisite mentality shows its brilliance. You or I could not go there because we are active beings and even if we stand very still our stomachs will churn, our blood will flow, our hair will grow and anything that supports any kind of change in a negative reality immediately ceases to exist. Physical matter of every kind is incapable of existing in the negative. How about thoughts and emotions? They have no physicality to cause change but thoughts tend to have direction or come to a point. Thoughts can be said to move. Only the most basic thoughts can exist, but then even those and emotions can be said to come and go both cases of which negation cannot abide. But, and this is the most phenomenal clincher, what if emotions in the negative realm do not come and go. Suppose they have always been there and always will be there. They exist in that reality constantly the same. It is just that when it leaks into a reality supported by both positive and negative essences creatures, living and undead, can feel an array of possible emotions, i.e., the same creature can go from being happy to sad and vice versa.
Now remember I'm looking for a way to trap creatures in a not time reality, not turn them into servants of darkness or cease their existence outright. I have discovered a way to do this. The first thing I do is use a sunmor cosi vitiae basemind to coalesce the negative energy leaks around me. This creates a reservoir, like a pool of lamp oil, with which to open a gate when the spark is struck. Almost all of the magic involves internal connectivity, for me it is reaching an emotive state. The most powerful in the negative realms are hatred, envy, sadness, and fear. Some other emoters may say that these are all related, but I've found the disparateness in their genealogies allow me to use them effectively. So now I have effectively created a negative energy link. The next step is reversing the stream, drawing into it a physical being to be absorbed, and close the portal in one swift move.
To reverse the direction of flow takes a focused omnium praxis negaversium. The trickiest part is getting the body into the negative reality without damage or dissolution. I must say this trick took the most ingenuity and creative thought and it can't be reproduced by any but an emoter. It is delicate work and takes careful dweomercraft, but the person must be essentially enshrouded in one of the prescribed emotions completely to be sent to the prison. This shroud, a temperibis vox negamis, hides the individual so he or she "appears" or acts as an emotion in the negative realm. The physical being is "hidden" from the oblivion effects of negativity or can be said to actually become an emotion that will not change so the individual receives the stasis benefits of not time reality. I hate to use the term "hides" because it suggests intent of the negative reality, but it is really more like the ability to breathe water in an aqueous environment. The water cannot know that a person cannot breathe water, but it is like we are fooling its very nature so that adverse effects do not occur. As we trick water into thinking we are fish, so to speak, we trick the negative essence into thinking we are an emotion. Quite ingenious. To finish the endeavor, the rift is closed with a happy thought.
To release the prisoner once again I summon the negative flow. It establishes an attached point near me and I create a basemind sunmor praxis recevom to call forth the individual and the being will be brought before me. Then I close the rift with a happy thought.
Now, Klar, I fully realize you will be put out of this book from the point I mention Feng-Shui. I also realize that this prison will be used well after I'm gone, so I have developed a magic item system that you will find most easy. Within this book are eighteen black gems. These are your imprisoning gems. Though I can utilize the prison from any location I have decided to limit these gems because they are "hot" with negative energy. You may only use them within the confines of the Keep. Simply touch the gem to the individual to be imprisoned and say "Go hence unto" and say the number of the cell to send the being to. The cells are as follows for your information if for some reason this should matter: 1 is fear, 2 is hatred, 3 is envy, 4 is sadness. The being touched will fade as they are cloaked by the emotion and then they will be gone as they enter the not time realm. The gem will shatter as it reverses its direction and places the positive energy patch on the rift. As a side note, if an occupied cell is chosen the magic will not be spent and the gem will remain whole. Nothing will happen.
Releasing the prisoners is trickier. A negative tag must be located in a space, not unlike a tag attached to a being who may draw upon negative energy to become undead. As you can imagine such a tag will in time totally corrupt the item or area it is attached to. Do not use this place for anything else but a receiving room … ever! The permanent link is tagged to a site in a special release chamber below the Keep near my quarters. The floor is painted in a spiral. In the center of the spiral is a permanent negative energy link. There are also eighteen white stones with this book. These are your releasing gems. They are a positive energy key for unlocking the prison, but they will not close the negative energy stream. Place the gem in the center of the spiral and say "Come forth from" and say the number of the cell of the prisoner to be released. The gem will shatter as the prisoner appears in the center. For your information, the gem cannot contain the negative energy to draw back the prisoners as the black gem does because the release point must be a space not an object. Bringing someone back into an object is always very messy. Also as a side note, if an unoccupied cell is specified then nothing will happen and the gem will remain whole.
As an added warning let me describe a little about the white gems. These contain positive energy. This energy is a catalyst for spontaneous change such as life, heat, light, and generally existence. Imagine the exact opposite of negative energy. It is the realm of time, in fact, it contains all time thusly all possibilities exist constantly everywhere. Theoretically, a traveler to the positive reality would explode into a swirling, pulsating, constantly changing morass of materials and thoughts and emotions. That traveler would be dead. Our world is more or less a reality of neutral energy that is constantly suffering slashes of positive energy and leaks of negative energy. The balance keeps our world from becoming completely static or totally dynamic. We assume intellectually that our world without either would be an empty lifeless of place of stone without heat or light but occasional rock falls and weather permutations would maintain a pointless entropy.
What all of this means to you is that if something strange and unexplainable occurs in the vicinity of the white stones this may be the reason. If you keep them near the black stones the effect may be counteracted as the two energies create a balance that keeps down both the negative and positive effects. If the magic destabilizes and/or a gate to a more positive reality is opened there may be an explosion of wild magic which means the effects could be anything and I mean that … anything. Some mages specialize in wild magic, so it is not all bad, but I don't think you would like to be around it. If such happens then remove the gems from the premises. DO NOT DESTROY THEM!!! Bury them somewhere away from people or throw them in the river or something. Then it would be a good idea to block off the receiving room below. I don't expect there will be any difficulties since my research has been so meticulous and these warnings are just in extremely rare circumstances. I am sure the prison will be useless, as the gems will run out, long before there are any wild magic occurrences.
Klar, I'm excited to provide this for you for the years to come. If I am gone then feel free to use this prison as needs arise. However, I think we will be together forever joined by a friendship insurmountable by any force in the world.
