The front of the house where I lived in Merida. It also served as an electronic print shop AND a watch repair business, and coming soon, a pasteleria to boot. (As it is Christmas time, those are Christmas lights dangling.) I love all the small businesses that one can find in so many houses. However, at present, the big thing seems to be huge American style malls, with stores owned by American companies, complete with signs written in English. At these places, most products cost the same as in America, but the employees are paid approximately one tenth of the wages. And don't get me started on pizza...You can pay half as much as in America for a pizza from a Mexican company, or twice as much as in America for a pizza from an American company. Guess which places are the most popular?
