Shallow
Grave
An
excellent thriller which centres around three young professional flatmates looking
for another flatmate. After interorgating and humiliating prospective new flatmates
they choose Hugo, a charmining professional writing a new book. However, after
the day he moves in, they find him dead, locked in his room with a suitcase
under his bed containing £1 million. The dilemma is - should they report it
to the police or dispose of the body and keep the £1m. No three guesses as to
what they decide! This was a good film which helped put the Scottish Film Industry
on the international map. It also launched the career of Ewan McGregor who went
on to make Trainspotting, transforming him into one of Scotland's hottest young
exports. In Shallow Grave, Ken plays probably the only likeable character in
the film. He plays the suspicious Detective Inspector McCall. Its a small but
nonetheless significant part.
