Casimir James Konstanty had one of the greatest seasons ever recorded by a relief pitcher in 1950. He finished the season by having a hand in 38 of the Phillies' 91 wins. He gave much of the credit to his best friend, Andy Skinner, an upstate New York undertaker, who was able to spot mechanical flaws in his delivery. Konstanty threw an assortment of "junk" but always had great control and possessed great confidence in himself. 1950 National League MVP
