1997 NATIONAL LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
The Phillies 2nd pick in the June 1993 draft moved rapidly
through their farm system. By 1995, Phillies brass knew he
was a potential superstar. His 1997 Rookie of the Year season confirmed that and if there
were a "Sophomore of the Year" award, Scott would probably have won it in 1998. The relationship between Rolen and new skipper Larry Bowa was not a great one and eventually Rolen was traded to the Cardinals. Rolen wound up his stint with the Phillies in 9th place on the all-time home run list with 150.
