SCOTT ROLEN

1997 NATIONAL LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

The Phillies 2nd pick in the June 1993 draft moved rapidly through their farm system. By 1995, Phillies brass knew he was a potential superstar. His 1997 Rookie of the Year season confirmed that and if there were a "Sophomore of the Year" award, Scott would probably have won it in 1998. The relationship between Rolen and new skipper Larry Bowa was not a great one and eventually Rolen was traded to the Cardinals. Rolen wound up his stint with the Phillies in 9th place on the all-time home run list with 150.
