ONE WAY TO CONSTRUCT A WRAPPED BOTTLE CANTEEN
The first step is to find a nice bottle. Most craft stores have some really nice ones with the cork included. The next item is the strap. I like to use small diameter rope for this, (7ft. length) about the diameter size used on our tents. Determine how long you want your strap by looping the 7ft rope over your shoudler and holding the bottle to the proper "hang" heigth and then mark the rope. Next you'll need some twine (like binders twine) for the wrapping or if you have a lot of the same rope used on the strap that will do too.
Lay your strap down in a loop on the table, place your bottle in the bottom of the loop. Spread the rope strap apart near the bottom of the bottle and insert the twine through the hole. Tie the twine to the rope strap. Spread the rope on the opposite side and insert the end of the twine through it. Begin wrapping the bottle pretty tightly with the twine. Wrap up the bottle until you get near the shoulders of the bottle then insert the twine throught the rope again on both sides. This will keep your strap secure on the bottle.
Wrap up the neck of the bottle and tie off the twine. Tie or splice the rope strap and you're done.
