"Forever Wild":

Its illusions and deceptions Grundy County Tennessee part of the South Cumberland Mountain - Sequatchie Valley region unknowingly playing host to the unwanted parasite of Green Party political agenda? This is a question that needs to be asked and needs to be answered. December 2003, the Monette Anthony Developments, LLC granted a "perpetual" Conservation Easement near Monteagle and Sewanee TN. to The Land Trust For Tennessee, Inc., a Tennessee nonprofit corporation. They claim their purpose for doing so is, "forever conserving the plant species and communities, riparian community and resources, wildlife habitat and scenic qualities of Property..." (Information source: public record Conservation Easement document filed with the Grundy County Tennessee Register of Deeds). Terry and Roland Monette of Tracy City Tennessee and partners Marilyn and Jim Anthony of Trussville Alabama have been called "pioneers for conservation in this area...". The Grundy County Herald reported, February 2004, "Following busy careers in several countries, the Monettes and Anthonys elected to undertake this project to save a small part of Tennessee’s rapidly vanishing wilderness that that played such a major part in the state’s celebrated landscape, unique culture and illustrious history". Furthermore, it was reported in the Grundy County Herald, "With the completion of this conservation easement through the Land Trust for Tennessee, these land owners have made a commitment to preserve the special character of the [Bridal Veil] cove and all of its features in its natural state in perpetuity." In a brochure distributed by the Monette Anthony Development, the following advertisement reads as follows: "Bridal Veil Phase 2 North Rim Opens May 2003 www.BridalVeilBluffs.com A Restricted Community of 586 acres. Extensive common areas including The Bridal Veil Wilderness Preserve with streams, trails, caves, waterfalls, archeological sites, rare flora species. Nature Preserve. 180 acres of the Bridal Veil gorge are designated Forever Wild to preserve this magnificent environment and its wild life." The Forever Wild project is seemingly harmless and boasts of exercising principals of good stewardship with regards to respecting our ecology and wild life. However, is it possible that such a "noble" sounding project could be a "Trojan horse" by another name, which may result in the loss of land use and rights to foreign investors, motivated by radical Green Party politics? Is the good natured, honest hearts and trust of the citizens of the South Cumberland - Sequatchie Valley region, respectively here in Grundy County, being manipulated by special interest Eco groups? Are claims of a "rapidly vanishing Mountain Wilderness" true statements or are the citizens of the South Cumberland Mountain region being sold the same "bill of goods" which our neighbors in Alabama have been lured into? Where is the funding coming from to support the Forever Wild conservation project, and what long term effects will Conservation Easements and Wilderness Preserves have on the County tax base as well as the greater Nation as a whole? These questions are being asked by the citizens of Grundy County and the State of Tennessee, and require an answer.
