== Your Position ==

You've been added to the Film Director Moderator staff. This is an honorable position as you will be handling the grading and moving of member submitted Line Rider videos. You'll learn how to grade, what the guidelines are, and how to move the posts to their appropriate class.

== MyLines Board ==

The MyLines Forum is the heart of the Line Masters Forum. It is here that members add their latest Line Rider videos to share with the whole community. It is your responsibility as a Film Director to watch and grade these videos, and move the post to the appropriate Class.

Add a Video - This thread is the only thread that members are allowed to begin new topics in. Here they will submit new Line Rider videos they have created via the hyperlink provided by YouTube, Google, or any other video hosting site that uses an http:// link for posting or sending video pages.

M-Class - This thread holds any video that has received a grade of M.

A-Class - This thread holds any video that has received a grade of A-, A, or A+.

B-Class - This thread holds any video that has received a grade of B-, B, or B+.

C-Class - This thread holds any video that has received a grade of C-, C, or C+.

D-Class - This thread holds any video that has received a grade of D.

MyLines Showcase - This thread holds the master list of MyLines member pages and the Line Masters Forum leaderboard. The administrator will update this thread regularly.

== Grading Guidelines ==

There are 6 ways we determine the quality of a Line Rider video. These guidelines have been formulated by many extensive studies of home-made Line Rider creations and many different kinds of judgement systems and responses to those systems. The categories for each guideline occur naturally in your brain as you watch the video. It is up to you to separate these categories and apply a letter grade to them:

1. Trick - The trick score focuses on the amount, quality, and type of tricks the Line Rider performs during the video. The more impressive and varied the tricks are, the higher the letter grade is.

2. Flow - Flow focuses on the ease at which the Line Rider travels through his course from the beginning to the end. This allows any style of track to be graded with flow. The smoother and more 'pleasing-to-the-eyes' the flow is, the higher the letter grade.

3. Skill - The Skill score focuses on the quality of the track itself and how well the track is put together. Curving, unique looping, and other track elements will affect a high or low letter grade.

4. Grace - The Grace score focuses on the quality of the video itself. The recording quality, audio track (if any), and editing quality all factor in to the letter grade.

5. Time - The Time score focuses on the length of the video vs. it's track elements. This score is tricky because it is often confused with the notion that the longer the video is, the higher the letter grade. This is not necessarily true. A Time score is better described by saying that the track time should compliment the video time and visa versa.

6. Greenery - A play on words, the Greenery score focuses on any scenery a member has added to their Line Rider track. The Greenery score is a bonus and can only help the grade, never hurt.

These seem like difficult explanations, but they naturally happen when you watch a member video, so it becomes easy to grade logically and fairly. This grading system also helps prevent biased opinions and favoritism.

Once you've given a letter grade to each element, you can figure out the overall score by converting them to their numeric values. Below is a list of the letter grades and their numeric values:

M = 11		A+ = 10		B+ = 7		C+ = 4		D = 1		G- = 0.5
		A  =  9		B  = 6		C  = 3				G  =   1
		A- =  8		B- = 5		C- = 2				G+ =   2
										GM =   3

To get the final grade, simply add the 5 (or 6) grade values together. The number you get will be converted back to a letter grade using the same above chart. To save you some math, here is a list of all possible grade values and their letter value:

Total    Grade
-----    -----
5 - 7      D
8 - 12     C-
13- 17     C
18- 22     C+
23- 27     B-
38- 32     B
33- 37     B+
38- 42     A-
43- 47     A
48- 52     A+
53- 58     M

Example:  Trick-B : Flow-A+ : Skill-A : Grace-B+ : Time-A : Greenery-G
          Trick-6 : Flow-10 : Skill-9 : Grace-7  : Time-9 : Greenery-1
          6 + 10 + 9 + 7 + 9 + 1 = 42

Based on the above chart, a 42 falls in the A- overall score range and would get moved to the A-Class videos thread.

== Grading Template ==

The grading template allows you to quickly post the grade in an organized manner. Simply copy and paste the block of text below whenever you need to grade a new video and post it as a reply:

Comments:

After each [/img] tag is where you put the letter grade for each element. If there is no scenery, remove the image tag line and type 'No bonus' or leave it empty.
(Example: If you grade the Trick score as an A minus, simply type A-, and so on.)

The last [img] tag is the important one. There are special image codes that you will enter to show the overall grade in the post. To make the image appear properly, simply enter the appropriate code between the underscore(_) and the period(.) in the 'class_.png' area:

class_M.png  for M  grade
class_Ap.png for A+ grade
class_A.png  for A  grade
class_Am.png for A- grade
class_Bp.png for B+ grade
class_B.png  for B  grade
class_Bm.png for B- grade
class_Cp.png for C+ grade
class_C.png  for C  grade
class_Cm.png for C- grade
class_D.png  for D  grade

Additionally you may leave your own comment on the video if you wish.

== Moving the Video ==

Once you've graded and commented, submit your post and it will appear as a reply in the video's thread. While viewing the topic, scroll to the bottom of the page. In the lower left are 4 buttons. From left to right there is an 'X' (delete), an arrow (move), a lock (lock thread), and a split option. Click the second button with the arrow on it, and you will be taken to a new screen asking where you would like to move the video.

Choose the appropriate class (M, A, B, C, D) from the drop-down box.

IMPORTANT: ALWAYS REMEMBER TO UN-CHECK THE BOX THAT ASKS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE A SHADOW TOPIC. If you accidentally leave a shadow topic you will have to re-post the video and grade. We do this to keep the threads tidy.

== Conclusion ==

Now you have the knowledge and the power to be a successful Film Director Moderator. You may experience some difficulty at first; everyone makes mistakes, but in time you will be able to moderate the member videos with great ease, and it is a lot of fun too ^^

One final note: When you move a video(s), enter the member's name(s) and the name(s) of the video(s) in a private message and send it to the administrator. This way the video can be added to the MyLines member page.
