The Trip to Okongo - This is the part of Namibia Ndeshi's Mom originates from and is about as "in the bush" as you get in Owambo. We went for Ndeshi cousin's wedding.

                   having just killed "my" cow

Ndeshi Cooking up the goods in "our kitchen".  The story goes like this: Ndeshi suggested that her family (mom, dad, sister and us) kill a cow for the wedding. While we all paid for it, the cow has to be from somebody in particular - which means Ndeshi because it was her suggestion. This of course meant that at the wedding, the cow was officially from me, being the member of our household with a member. After all, the keeping and killing of cows is a man-thing, right?

So, having provided a cow, we got a "kitchen", a fenced off and covered area for Ndeshi to slave away and cook meat, omahangu and salads to feed whoever wishes to come by. I believe this will be the last time Ndeshi makes an offers.
