WWAW Tuesday Turbo
Aired LIVE 2/27/2001
(We see clips of Deadly Sins, including the Vamp/Muta tag title win, Norton's turn on Jarrett, and other clips.)
("Neckbone" plays, and we go live inside the Richmond Coliseum in Virginia. We get a few shots of the crowd, but Trent Rutherford alerts us on something.)
Rutherford: I just got word that something is going on backstage, let's go there right now!
(We cut away and go backstage, where Jeff Jarrett and Scott Norton are fighting! Norton is about to kill Jarrett, when WWAW officials run in and break the two up.)
Norton: I'm gonna kill you! And I'll take the title too!
Jarrett: Come get some, SLAPASS!
(Norton tries to bust through security, but they keep holding him back. We then go back to ringside where Rutherford is sitting.)
Rutherford: What a way to start Turbo! Later tonight, we will start our #1 Contender, 16 Man Tournament, with Perry Saturn taking on longtime rival Steve Corino, and the man who scored an upset victory last night over Buff Bagwell, Michael Modest, taking on the man who wants a piece of Jarrett, and wants him now, Scott Norton. Should be interesting. But right now, let's go to the ring for the first match, which just happens to be a rematch from Deadly Sins, between Vampiro and The Great Muta and Kronic, for the WWAW Tag Team Titles.
("House of Horrors" plays, and Vampiro and Muta come out to a fair number of cheers!)
Rutherford: At Deadly Sins...
(Package showing stills of the Tag Title match shown.)
Rutherford: It was a Tag Title Match that was the best one that the WWAW has offered yet. Both teams went at it, and they wouldn't give up. However, as action spilled to the outside between Adams and Vampiro, the ref was distracted, allowing Muta to spray mist in Clark's eyes, and hit the Moonsault, capturing the tag titles for the dark duo.
("Guilty" plays, and Kronic comes out to boos. They don't appreciate it, and start taunting the fans, just making them more rowdy.)
Rutherford: And here is Kronic, prepared to attempt to take back the Tag Titles they lost less than 48 hours ago.
WWAW Tag Team Titles Match
Kronic
vs.
Vampiro and The Great Muta
The Good: After an exhausting match for Kronic, they managed to rebound quite well and put on a good match for the crowd.
The Bad: Unfortunately, after a while, the crowd grew tired of the match, as most thought it went on too long.
The Finish: As Vampiro hits the Nail In The Coffin on Adams, Muta hits a flying forearm and gets the pin to retain the tag titles.
Vampiro and The Great Muta defeated Kronic when Muta pinned Clark after
a flying forearm in 0:11:32.
Rating: * 1/4
(Vampiro and The Great Muta retained the WWAW World Tag Team Titles.)
Rutherford: Well, Vampiro and The Great Muta are for real! They retain the titles in impressive fashion...
(We go backstage, where Goldberg is riding in on a motorcycle! The crowd is going crazy in the arena, as Goldberg steps off and starts walking towards the locker room.)
(Commercials)
Rutherford: We're back. Now, future dates for the WWAW include a visit to the New Haven Coliseum in Connecticut on Thursday for TV Tapings of All Star Wrestling and Superstars. Next week, we go to the Fleet Center LIVE for Turbo, and then we go to the Springfield Civic Center for TV Tapings again. Right now, let's go to the ring for the next match.
("The Kings" plays, and the crowd gives a lukewarm response to Jesse James as he comes down to the ring.)
Rutherford: Here's Jesse James. And his opponent...
("Where The River Flows" blares, and the crowd boos as Chris Kanyon comes out. He has a cocky smile going as he walks down the aisle way.)
Rutherford: ...is Chris Kanyon!
(Kanyon slides into the ring, but James stomps on him to begin the match early!)
Jesse James
vs.
Chris Kanyon
The Good: James, known to be a sloppy worker, managed not to make an ass out of himself tonight. Kanyon was on top of his game tonight.
The Bad: James still isn't doing very well in the WWAW ring.
The Finish: Kanyon kicks James in the midsection and goes for the Kanyon Cutter, but James pushes him off into the ref, who gets knocked down. Kanyon comes back, only to get clotheslined. James picked up Kanyon and went for the Pumphandle Slam, but Scott Norton came running down the aisle, and attacked James from behind, and then hit a crushing Powerbomb on him! What the hell?!?! Kanyon goes for the cover as the ref recovers, and Kanyon gets the win, thanks to Norton! Norton doesn't even look at the ring as he storms back up the entryway. Meanwhile, Kanyon celebrates his fluke victory in the ring.
Chris Kanyon defeated Jesse James via pinfall in 0:05:36.
Rating: 3/4*
Rutherford: What is Norton doing? This may be because of the rage of himself not getting a shot at Jarrett, but there might be other reasons... right now, we're gonna go backstage, where I understand Katie Haynes is with Steve Corino.
Backstage
(Katie Haynes is with Steve Corino.)
Haynes: Mr. Corino, later tonight, you will face Perry Saturn in the 1st round of the tournament to decide a #1 contender to Jeff Jarrett's title.
Corino: Yeah, and I think I will win. Because I know I'm the best damn wrestler on this wrestler, and no big oaf or little dwarf is going to stop me from reaching my dream, and getting the WWAW title.
(Corino walks off.)
Haynes: Well, that was interesting... oh, and by the way, to all WWAW fans, Jacob Goodman is on the road to recovery, as it wasn't a serious neck injury suffered at the hands of those men-pigs the Perfect Event...
(What timing. The Perfect Event show up.)
Stasiak: Well, well, well... if it isn't the pretty Ms. Haynes.
Haynes: Get away from me.
Stasiak: I can't do that. You have to understand, I'm perfect, and you are perfect for me.
Haynes: Ugh.
Stasiak: Are you displeased with sheer perfectShawn?
Haynes: I'm not displeased with you, Shawn, I'm disgusted with you.
Stasiak: You won't be disgusted with me tonight. Chuck, grab her.
Haynes: What the--?
(She doesn't get the question off, as Palumbo grabs Haynes and drags her down the locker room hall, screaming, as Stasiak follows.)
Rutherford: What the hell? That's horrible of them to do that to her! I'm sorry for that, fans. But the show must go on. Let's go to the ring.
("Break The Walls Down" plays, as the crowd goes nuts, and Jericho comes out to greet his fans. Almost immediately, you can hear the Jericho chants as he goes down to the ring.)
Rutherford: Chris Jericho is a big fan favorite around here. But maybe his opponent..
(WHAT DOES EVERYBODY WANT?!?!? "Rockafella Skank" plays, as Al Snow comes down to the ring to a lukewarm reaction.)
Rutherford: Well, speaking of Jericho's opponent, there he is now, Al Snow.
Chris Jericho
vs.
Al Snow
The Good: Both men are superb athletes, and was given a fair amount of time to show that they could put on a show for the crowd in Virginia.
The Bad: Not much.
The Finish: Al Snow went for the Snow Plow, but Jericho hit a small package in mid-air for a 2 count. Snow and Jericho got up at the same time, and clotheslined each other down to the mat. Jericho got up first and hit a wicked arm drag, sending Snow halfway across the ring. Jericho then picked up Snow, and hit a double powerbomb, after the second, hooking the legs of Snow and locking on the Walls of Jericho. Snow didn't last too long, and Snow tapped out, giving Jericho the win.
Chris Jericho made Al Snow submit to the Walls of Jericho in 0:10:59.
Rating: ** 1/2
Rutherford: We're going to take a break, but stay tuned, because Steve Corino and Perry Saturn will be going at it in the 1st round of the number-one contender tournament, Next!
(Commercials)
(As we come back from commercials, "Judgement Day" is already playing, and Saturn is making his way to the ring, to a non-existent reaction.)
Rutherford: We're about to kick off our tournament to decide a #1 contender. We're waiting for Saturn's opponent...
("Come With Me" plays, and Steve Corino, comes out to lots of boos. He has a mic.)
Corino: On Sunday, I came THAT close to beating Chris Jericho. But instead of dwelling over my losses, I, instead, will kick your ass, Perry. Just like last time.
(Corino runs down to the ring and the match begins!)
#1 Contender Tournament
Round 1
Steve Corino
vs.
Perry Saturn
The Good: Corino showed why he has such an amazing record, taking Saturn to school.
The Bad: Saturn's a slow learner.
The Finish: Corino hits a nasty Superkick, and then follows it up with a fisherman suplex for the win and to advance in the tournament.
[#1 Contender Tournament - Round 1]: No-Time-Limit-Match:
Steve Corino pinned Perry Saturn after a fisherman suplex in 0:03:05.
Rating: ** 1/4
The match was surprisingly short, but after the match, the crowd was displeased with the result. They started booing, but Corino grabbed a mic.
Corino: YOU DON'T LIKE IT?!?!?! TOO BAD, I'M GONNA WIN THIS DAMN THING!
(Corino throws down the mic and stands on the turnbuckle, proud.)
Rutherford: Whether you like him or not, Corino has been on fire lately, and tonight was no different.
(We go backstage... where we see Jacob Goodman! He isn't in a neck brace either! A WWAW official meets him in the parking lot.)
Official: Have you heard about Katie?
Goodman: No, what?
Official: Perfect Event ran off with her.
Goodman: WHAT?!?!?
Official: They were muttering something about going to the local bar. I don't know what it means.
Goodman: Oh, I know what it means.. and I plan on doing something about the Perfect Event.
(Jacob grabs a shovel near him.)
Goodman: It's F****** over, Stasiak and Palumbo. IT'S OVER.
(Goodman runs off, as the official calls after him.)
Rutherford: Goodman has snapped... I'm afraid to wonder what he'll do to the Perfect Event, but we'll have a cameraman crew try to track him down. For now, let's go to the next match.
The Hardyz
vs.
Doring/Roadkill
The Good: These two tag teams gave it their all for the fans.
The Bad: It wasn't enough, the fans still seemed pissed after the Corino/Saturn match.
The Finish: Doring and Roadkill team up to hit the Buggy Bang on Matt,
but Jeff comes off top with a double dropkick, knocking down both Roadkill and Doring. Jeff gets back up quickly, scales the ropes, and hits a flying senton on Roadkill to get the win.
The Hardyz defeated Danny Doring and Roadkill when J. Hardy pinned Roadkill
after a flying senton in 0:11:24.
Rating: * 3/4
Rutherford: And the Hardyz pick up another win!
(We go to outside the Richmond Coliseum, and we have followed Goodman to a bar in Virginia. We don't know the name of it, but we see Goodman walking in there without his shovel.)
Rutherford: Folks, this could get nasty.
(Commercials)
(We go inside the bar, and Stasiak and Palumbo are conversing.)
Palumbo: Damn, I'm glad that we got that yapping bitch in the trunk.
Stasiak: She'll learn to respect perfectShawn when she sees it.
Palumbo: Not to mention Chuck Palumbo.
Stasiak: Definetly.
(Goodman enters the bar, but silently finds Stasiak and Palumbo. Goodman looks around, and finds a fire alarm, and then pulls it. The alarm sounds, and the people in the bar file out slowly. Goodman is the first out, going to his car. Palumbo and Stasiak decide it's time to go outside, and they are the last one out. The whole place is cleared out, but Goodman runs back in, with no one looking, and charges in. He's careful, though, and manages to get Palumbo and Stasiak to pass him in the dark bar without them noticing. Goodman then sneaks up from behind, taps Stasiak on the shoulder, drives the end of the shovel into his gut, and then smacks Palumbo HARD with the shovel in the head, sending Palumbo back into a table, crashing through it. Stasiak is surprised by Goodman's appearance, but doesn't get to think of it for long, as Goodman begins to choke out Stasiak with the shovel. Stasiak falls to the ground, as Goodman begins conversing with him.)
Goodman: WHERE...IS...KATIE?!?!?!
(Stasiak chokes out a response.)
Stasiak: She's in the trunk.
Goodman: Give me the damn keys.
(Stasiak looks at Jacob like he's a loon, but gives him the keys anyways.)
Goodman: Thanks.
(Goodman stops choking Stasiak, but Stasiak sits up, only to have Jacob turn right around and nail Stasiak with the end of the shovel, breaking the handle over the head of Stasiak, knocking him out. Goodman leaves the bar, tells the people it is safe to go back in, but to get rid of Stasiak and Palumbo because they are a little wasted, and then goes to the trunk of Stasiak/Palumbo's car. He unlocks it, and sure enough, there's Katie, wriggling with rope tied around her and duct tape around her mouth.)
Goodman: Don't worry, I'll get you home.
(Goodman picks up Katie and walks to his car with her in his hands.)
Rutherford: That's wild! But it might not be as wild as this next match between Buff Bagwell and Chavo Guerrero Jr.!
("We Be Clubbin'" plays, and Buff Bagwell comes out to a few cheers from the crowd.)
("One Step Closer" blares, and Chavo comes out to a big pop from the crowd.. Chavo is obviously still banged up from the stretcher match.)
Buff Bagwell
vs.
Chavo Guerrero Jr.
The Good: Chavo wasn't at his best, and Bagwell didn't help much. However, Chavo still managed to put on a semi-good show.
The Bad: Chavo wasn't at his best, and Bagwell didn't help much.
The Finish: Bagwell goes for the Blockbuster, but Chavo catches him, amazingly, drives him into the turnbuckle, and hits the Tornado DDT for the win!
No-Time-Limit-Match:
Chavo Guerrero Jr. pinned Buff Bagwell with the Tornado DDT in 0:10:09.
Rating: * 3/4
After the upset, Chavo left the ring, celebrating with the fans.
Backstage Preview
(We see a shot of Michael Modest walking down the hallway, and then we see Norton doing the same thing. Match #2 of the tournament, NEXT!)
(We go outside the arena, and Goodman is pulling in, without Katie. He exits the car, and it looks like he'll be filling in for Katie tonight.)
Coincidentally, Rikishi is there, waiting for an interview... Jacob, out of breath, gets there.
Goodman: Alright, what do you want, Rikishi?
Rikishi: I want to just tell Goldberg... that Sunday was a fluke. I am going to kill him tonight, in front of this entire crowd... you just wait, Jacob, you just wait.
(Rikishi walks off.)
("Shout 2000" plays, and Michael Modest comes out to boos from the crowd. Modest enjoys the hate, and encourages more to come his way. And they don't hold back, either.)
Rutherford: Match number two of the tournament begins now... Modest will be facing.
("Fuel" blares, as Norton comes out to one of the HUGEST pops of the night. He throws his arms up in the air to the crowd, and then enters the ring for the match.)
#1 Contender Tournament
Round 1
Michael Modest
vs.
Scott Norton
The Good: The crowd was in it the whole way. Chants of "MODEST SUCKS" and "NORTON, NORTON" could be heard echoing through the arena. But to match the reaction of the crowd, some great wrestling went down. Modest and Norton switched off some very near pinfalls, keeping the fans on the edge of their seats.
The Bad: Nothing.
The Finish: Michael Modest goes for a reverse neckbreaker, but Norton turns it around, and hits a swinging neckbreaker. Norton calls for the end, and kicks Modest in the midsection. He goes for the Powerbomb, but Modest goes over Norton, and tries to slump Norton over for the Air Raid Crash. He fails, badly, and Norton rolls up Modest.
