WWAW All Star Wrestling
Taped 3/1/2001
Aired 3/2/2001

(We see clips of Turbo, including Goodman's attack on the Perfect Event, Jarrett/Norton, Rikishi/Jericho, and more.)

("Sway" brings us into the Gund Arena in Ohio for All Star Wrestling! We go straight to Trent Rutherford, who kicks us off!)

Rutherford: Welcome! Tonight, we have a great card, including a main event between Chris Jericho and Mantaur! So let's get started!

("Cowboy" plays, as Jeff Jarrett comes out to an explosion of boos. He has the WWAW Title wrapped around one arm, and the guitar on his other shoulder. He goes into the ring and taunts the crowd on the turnbuckles, and then grabs a mic.)

Jarrett: I'm glad to be in Ohio... because it's the home of the slapasses of America!

(boos from the crowd)

Jarrett: I came out here for a reason. And that reason is to say that, I don't like this tournament, ONE BIT!

(boos)

Jarrett: Because the winner of this tournament gets to face me! And they aren't worthy opponents, they are all a bunch of slapasses! I need a challenge!

(boos continue, including a few hardly-heard chants, but they are all interrupted by "Fuel"! The crowd explodes, and get even more crazy as Scott Norton arrives! HE'S HERE! Norton has a mic.)

Norton: I didn't get the job done on Turbo, Jarrett, but I'm coming to get it done tonight!

(Norton throws down his mic and runs at Jarrett, but guards hold back Norton.)

Jarrett: Don't be so jumpy, Norton. I found a guy backstage who wants to face you.

(We see Norton mouth "WHO?!?!")

Jarrett: I'll tell you who... he's right behind you!

(Rikishi pops out from the crowd and clotheslines Norton to the ground and beats on him until the guards pull him off of Norton.)

Jarrett: I hope you enjoyed that as much as I did.

("Cowboy" plays as the crowd boos big time for Jarrett's cocky antics, and Rikishi attacking Norton.)

Rutherford: That's a great way to start off ASW! Before we go to the first match, let's go over what happened on Turbo.

(A video package is shown of Tuesday, when the Perfect Event kidnapped Katie, then Jacob Goodman getting informed that Katie is gone, then Jacob Goodman attacking the Perfect Event.)

Rutherford: After that incident, Goodman was scolded by the President of WWAW, Jake Ryder, for his actions and fined. However, he was not released or suspended. This upset the Perfect Event, who complained to President Ryder about the ordeal. Ryder would hear none of it, but instead, had a heart and gave them a chance to prove they were good wrestlers in the ring, in a non-title match against Vampiro and The Great Muta. Which is the match up next!

("The Stroke" plays, and the crowd immediately reacts with boos. Shawn Stasiak enters first, followed by Palumbo, and Stasiak shows off his physique, as Palumbo walks to the ring, holding his head, showing signs that the attack from Goodman still hasn't exactly passed. Stasiak didn't seem to be phased though. They both slid into the ring, and raised their arms in the air on opposite turnbuckles. However...)

("House of Horrors" interrupts them, as Vampiro and The Great Muta come down to the ring to a mixed reaction from the crowd in Ohio. Our ring announcer, Robert Smith, makes the introductions.)

Smith: This match is a non-title tag team match scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, the Perfect Event! And their opponents, the current WWAW Tag Team Champions, Vampiro and The Great Muta!

Non-Title Match
The Perfect Event
vs.
Vampiro and The Great Muta

The Good: Though it would seem that neither man was really hurt from it, the Perfect Event seemed to miss a step after the attack on Turbo from Goodman. This didn't help them out with the fans, however, because they were unforgiving, and wanted to see entertaining matches. Vampiro and Muta pulled out some moves, but they weren't that entertaining. However, they were enough to get the crowd semi-interested, and to keep this match from turning into a bathroom break for the fans in the Gund Arena.

The Bad: Perfect Event just didn't seem to be with it tonight. The attack had to be attributed to such a weakness within the Perfect Event, but time will tell if the Perfect Event will really be affected concerning the attack by Goodman.

The Finish: Vampiro threw Stasiak out of the ring, and tagged in Muta, who went to work on the other legal man, Palumbo. Vampiro threw Stasiak into the steps, making his head bounce off the stars. Muta then chucked Vampiro the outside, where Vampiro held Palumbo long enough to hit a baseball slide to the face of Palumbo, smacking his boots off the head of Chuck. Vampiro then picked up Palumbo and sent him into the ring, as Muta waited for Palumbo to get to his feet. Because when it happened, Muta hit a tiger suplex for the win in a non-title match.

Non-Title-Match:
Vampiro and The Great Muta defeated The Perfect Event when Muta pinned Palumbo
after a tiger suplex in 0:09:21.
Rating: 3/4*

Rutherford: After that great match, let me explain our next one. Due to matches eliminating 1/2 of the teams of the Hardy Boyz and Doring and Roadkill in the tournament, it was decided that there should be a singles match between the two men out. They happened to be Matt Hardy and Danny Doring, which lead up to this match next.

("Anthem for the Year 2000" plays, and Matt Hardy comes out with the beautiful, as always, Lita. Matt walks down to the ring to cheers from the crowd, some for Matt, and some for Lita. Matt slides into the ring and celebrates with the crowd. However, his opponent is this...)

("Natural One" plays, and Danny Doring comes out to a lukewarm reaction from the crowd. Doring shows off his muscles to the crowd, which doesn't help much, for the most part. Doring enters the ring as Smith gives the introductions.)

Smith: This is a regular singles match scheduled for one-fall. Introducing first, Matt Hardy! And his opponent, Danny Doring!

Matt Hardy
vs.
Danny Doring

The Good: They didn't seem to suffer too much without their partners. They both put on a good show, as the crowd seemed to enjoy it to the point where they were chanting "MATT, MATT!".

The Bad: Doring seemed to be off tonight, but that seems to be the norm around here.

The Finish: Matt Hardy goes for the flying legdrop, hits it, and then hits the Twist of Fate for the win!

Matt Hardy pinned Danny Doring with the Twist of Fate in 0:10:06.
Rating: ** 1/2

Rutherford: We'll be right back with the 3rd match in the WWAW #1 Contender Tournament!

(Commercials)

Rutherford: Welcome back. This next match is a match between Buff Bagwell and Roadkill. Bagwell, trying to rebound from a loss from Michael Modest, will try to advance in this tournament. But, he'll have to get past Roadkill, who is determined to advance in the tournament as well, even without his partner Doring. Let's go to Robert Smith.

Smith: This match is a 1st Round match in the WWAW Number One Contender Tournament. Introducing first...

("We Be Clubbin'" plays, as Buff Bagwell comes out to cheers. He's showing off his muscles, as usual, and cockily walks to the ring.)

Smith: ...Buff Bagwell!

(Bagwell slides into the ring.)

Smith: And his opponent...

("Natural One" plays, as Roadkill comes out. He throws his hat off and walks to the ring.)

Smith: ...Roadkill!

(Roadkill then gets a running start, and runs into the ring as Bagwell puts the boots to him.)

WWAW #1 Contender Tournament
Round 1
Buff Bagwell
vs.
Roadkill

The Good: The crowd was energetic for this match, and the combatants delivered to a point.

The Bad: However, the way they delivered quickly made the crowd die during the middle of this match. Luckily, they picked it up towards the end.

The Finish: Roadkill hits a powerslam on Bagwell! Roadkill goes to the apron, Bagwell staggers to his feet, SPRINGBOARD CLOTHESLINE FROM ROADKILL! Roadkill quickly goes for the cover! ONE, TWO, KICKOUT! Roadkill gets impatient and climbs the top turnbuckle. He's gonna fly! Going for a splash! NO! BUFF MOVES! Buff's goes to the turnbuckle and sits on top... he's calling for the Blockbuster...YES! BUFF BLOCKBUSTER! COVER! ONE! TWO! THREE! Buff advances!

[WWAW #1 Contender Tournament - Round 1]: No-Time-Limit-Match:
Buff Bagwell pinned Roadkill with the Buff Blockbuster in 0:07:55.
Rating: * 3/4

Roadkill was upset after the match, and Buff Bagwell just celebrated.

Rutherford: So Buff Bagwell advances to face the winner of Chris Kanyon and Jeff Hardy in a little bit. Right now, I have word that Jacob Goodman is in the back with Chris Jericho.

Backstage Interview

(Jacob Goodman is with Chris Jericho.)

Goodman: Jericho, tonight you have a match with the monster Mantaur, who is looking for Goldberg...

Jericho: First off, Jacob, let me be the first to say it's great to have you back.

Goodman: Well, thanks.

Jericho: Now, as for that big oaf Mantaur. Mantaur, it was you and me not too long ago. We were a good tag team, and we worked well together. But then you turned around and stabbed me in the back. Tonight's my revenge, Mantaur. You broke my trust, but just try and come break down the walls of Jericho.

(Jericho walks off.)

Rutherford: It's clear that Jericho is ready for Mantaur. Up next is our 2nd tournament match of the night, between Chris Kanyon and Jeff Hardy. Let's go to Robert for the introductions.

Smith: This match is a Round 1 match in the WWAW Number One Contender Tournament. Introducing first...

("Anthem for the Year 2000" plays, and Jeff Hardy comes down to the ring with Lita as the crowd cheers.)

Smith: Jeff Hardy!

(Jeff slides into the ring, and does the Hardyz sign with Lita as they stand on opposite turnbuckles.)

Smith: And his opponent...

("Where The River Flows" plays, and the crowd boos as Kanyon enters the Gund Arena. Kanyon has a mic...)

Smith: Chris Kanyon!

Kanyon: ...WHO'S BETTER THAN KANYON!

("EVERYBODY" is the crowd's response, pissing Kanyon off.)

Kanyon: Listen up, you white trash, trailer park, rednecks, not only have your lives been worthless--

(boos)

Kanyon: --But your sports teams are too! I mean, how many times have the Indians been absolutely flogged by my Yankees?

(Explosive amount of boos, and "Yankees suck" chants.)

Kanyon: You see, in this case, I'm the Yankees, and Jeff Hardy is the Indians! So, I think Jeff's gonna get an asskicking!

(Boos as Kanyon runs down to the ring to begin the match.)

WWAW #1 Contender Tournament
Round 1
Chris Kanyon
vs.
Jeff Hardy

The Good: Chris Kanyon's trash talk got the crowd excited, and Jeff's high-flying antics added to the excitement.

The Bad: Kanyon lost some steam towards the end of the match.

The Finish: Jeff whips Kanyon into the ropes, Kanyon ducks a elbow, comes back off the other ropes, and hits a clothesline! Hardy back to his feet, backdrop! Kanyon goes for the Kanyon Cutter, but Hardy pushes him off, Lita tries to distract Kanyon on the apron, Kanyon blasts Lita! Kanyon turns around, kick, facebuster! Jeff calls for the Swanton! He's on top... he's going for it... NO! KANYON ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY! Kanyon is waiting for Jeff to get up... KANYON CUTTER! COVER! ONE, TWO, NO!!! KICKOUT!! Kanyon gets angry, Lita's back to her feet and on the turnbuckle...HURA--NO!! KANYON COUNTERS IT! POWERBOMB!! MY GOD! LITA IS OUT! Jeff is on the turnbuckle behind Kanyon!! Standing moonsault! COUNTERED BY KANYON! POWERSLAM! COVER! ONE, TWO, THREE! IT'S OVER!

[WWAW #1 Contender Tournament - Round 1]: No-Time-Limit-Match:
Chris Kanyon pinned Jeff Hardy after a powerslam in 0:16:38.
Rating: ** 3/4

After the match, Kanyon rolls out of the ring, as Jeff inches over to check on Lita. Matt comes down as well.

Rutherford: Lita was roughed up pretty bad, but she should be alright. Jacob Goodman is with Rikishi Phatu backstage. Jacob?

Backstage Interview

(Jacob Goodman is with Rikishi Phatu backstage.)

Goodman: Thanks, Trent. Rikishi, up next, you're scheduled to face Scott Norton. What made you attack Norton earlier tonight?

Rikishi: What made me do it, was the fact that Norton has an ego. He acts unstoppable, and I don't think he can back it up in the ring against the Phat Man. So, I decided to attack him, so he could be brought down to earth by Rikishi.

Goodman: Thanks, Rikishi.

Rikishi: My pleasure.

(Rikishi walks off.)

Rutherford: It's Rikishi against Norton, NEXT!

(Commercials)

(We come back to a promo from WWAW with Jacob Goodman.)

Goodman: The WWAW #1 Contender Tournament will come to a close 5 days before the WWAW PPV, Catastrophe. Catastrophe will come to PPV on Sunday, March 25th from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Jeff Jarrett will face the winner of this tournament in the main event at Catastrophe for the World Heavyweight Title, along with other big matches. Catastrophe will rock the foundations of the Garden, and the only way to see it is on PPV. Because, we encourage that no one gets blown away when they see WWAW action! Thanks!

(Fades out, takes us back to Rutherford.)

Rutherford: Let's go to Robert Smith.

Smith: This match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first...

("Greyhound Pt. 2" plays, as Rikishi comes to the ring to boos.)

Smith: Rikishi Phatu!

(Rikishi climbs into the ring and waits for his opponent.)

Smith: And his opponent...

("Fuel" blares as the crowd goes crazy, and Norton comes out to cheers. He throws his hands in the air and then goes to the ring.)

Smith: Scott Norton!

(Norton enters the ring and immediately goes into a staredown with Rikishi.)

Scott Norton
vs.
Rikishi Phatu

The Good: Considering it was a match that featured Norton, who is almost the overnight hero of the WWAW, the crowd was very much into it. Very close pins added to the excitement.

The Bad: Rikishi and Norton were two big guys, so it wasn't that great of a wrestling match.

The Finish: Norton seems to be unstoppable... he hit a brutal clothesline, then hit the Powerbomb like it was easy and picked up the win.

Scott Norton pinned Rikishi Phatu after a shoulderbreaker in 0:10:21.
Rating: -1/4*

Rutherford: Can Norton carry this momentum back into the tournament when he faces Corino? Only time will tell... our next match was formed for the simple reason that, in the opinion of WWAW President Jake Ryder, Steve Corino and Michael Modest are the two best wrestlers that WWAW has to offer. However, Ryder wanted to put them against each other. A win for either man would establish them as a force in the WWAW. Let's go to Robert Smith for the introductions.

Smith: This match is scheduled for one fall... introducing first...

("Shout 2000" plays, and the crowd gives NO reaction to Michael Modest as he comes out.)

Smith: ..Michael Modest!

(Modest slides into the ring as he waits for his opponent.)

Smith: And his opponent...

("Come With Me" plays, and the crowd explodes into boos as Steve Corino comes out and stands cockily at the entryway.)

Smith: ...Steve Corino!

(Corino enters the ring and gets ready to go.)

Michael Modest
vs.
Steve Corino

The Good: Everything. Trent wasn't lying when he said that these two are the best wrestlers that the WWAW has to offer. They delivered in a big way in Ohio...

The Bad: Nothing.

The Finish: Modest hits a T-Bone Suplex and is going to go for the Air Raid Crash! Modest sets Corino up...but Corino counters it with a small package! ONE, TWO, NO! KICKOUT! Corino picks up Modest, and sets up the Old School Expulsion... but it's countered with a snapmare into a dragon sleeper! Corino is in pain!! Corino tries to get close to the ropes... he made it!! Modest drags Corino to his feet.. Corino gets Modest with a low blow... OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION! COVER! ONE, TWO, THREE!

Scott Norton

The Good: The crowd was in it the whole way. Chants of "MODEST SUCKS" and "NORTON, NORTON" could be heard echoing through the arena.
