WWAW PPV: Katastrophe
Aired LIVE 3/25/2001

(We see a video package, voiced over by Jacob Goodman.)

Goodman: In early march, 16 men started out.

(Shows pictures of the 16 1st rounders one fading out, and the next fading in.)

Goodman: From those 16, 8 were chosen to stay. From those 8, a final four was chosen. From those 4, 2 emerged. Live on television, 2 became 1. That one man is here tonight. And he's looking for blood...

(the video package fades, and "Disposable Teens" by Marilyn Manson plays... we enter the Madison Square Garden, where it is packed to the rafters. Everyone is cheering, and there isn't a seat in the arena that isn't being sat in. Rutherford greets us.)

Rutherford: Welcome everyone, to the Madison Square Garden in New York, New York! Tonight is a big night, so let's go to the first match. This first match came along when Al Snow turned on the fans after a cage match with Jesse James.

(Clips are shown of that match and his attack on John LaRue.)

Rutherford: After that attack, Snow kept causing havoc, until just this week, when Bagwell wanted to put a stop to it. He challenged Snow to a match, and Snow accepted, and that's how we got here. Now, let's go to the ring.

Smith: This match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first...

("Intergalactic" plays, and the crowd boos as Al Snow comes out. He's wearing an old JOB Squad shirt, and black tights. He grabs the mic.)

Snow: I don't get it. They put me here in New York, the trashiest place in the United States, and then they force me to face Buff Bagwell?!?! What's up with that?

(Crowd boos, chants "Bagwell")

Snow: So, I'll just have to beat Buff and skip town, before I get stopped by a bum who wants change. Wait, that's the whole town! HAHAHAH

(Crowd boos, and "We Be Clubbin'" plays, as Bagwell runs out and attacks Snow. The match is on!)

Match #1:
Al Snow
vs.
Buff Bagwell

The Good: Both men were ready for this match, as they gave it their all. The crowd was pumped up thanks to the pre-match interview from Snow, and HATED Snow. Bagwell got big face pops many times.

The Bad: At times, the match seemed to drag a little thanks to Bagwell's style.

The Finish: Bagwell went for the Blockbuster on Al Snow, but Snow dodged it, and a dazed Bagwell got up a little later, only to get hit with the Snow Plow and get pinned!

No-Time-Limit-Match:
Al Snow pinned Buff Bagwell with the Snow Plow in 0:07:51.
Rating: ** 1/2

Smith: Your winner, Al Snow!

The crowd didn't like that result, and showed their disapproval by chanting "Snow Sucks" as he went to the back.

Rutherford: Al Snow wins the opening match, and Bagwell fails in his mission to win one for the fans.

Backstage

(Katie Haynes is arriving to the arena.)

Rutherford: It's Katie! She's here tonight! I can't wait to see what she wants to do in New York City!

Backstage Interview

(Jacob Goodman is with the WWAW Tag Team Champions, Vampiro and The Great Muta.)

Goodman: Vampiro, Muta, tonight you face a team. Yet no one knows who that team is. Does this affect your usual plan during a match?

Vampiro: Jacob, when you face someone and you don't know who they are until they are standing face to face with you in the ring, it will tend to make you think. However, tonight, no matter who this team is, we will use our same gameplan. And, hopefully, we'll walk out of Madison Square Garden with the titles.

(Vamp and Muta walk off, and we go back to ringside.)

Rutherford: This next match came along after Danny Doring and Roadkill attacked the Hardyz and Lita. Doring bodypressed Lita on a guardrail, puttng her out for a good long time, and she's still out to this date. Since, Doring/Roadkill have made the Hardyz life a living hell. Let's go to the ring.

Smith: This match is a tag match scheduled for one fall. Introducing first...

("Natural One" plays, and the crowd boos as Danny Doring and Roadkill come down to the ring.)

Smith: Danny Doring and Roadkill!

(Doring and Roadkill enter the ring, and are met with a "We Want Lita" chant... "Anthem For The Year 2000" plays, and the Hardyz come out to a big pop.)

Smith: And their opponents... Jeff and Matt Hardy, the Hardyz!

(The Hardyz slide into the ring and look at Doring/Roadkill and then get ready for their match.)

Match #2:
Danny Doring and Roadkill
vs.
The Hardyz

The Good: The Hardyz and Doring/Roadkill have been waiting for this rematch for a while, and when they finally got it, the crowd was as hyped as the two teams! They were totally into the match, and made several chants during the match, including heat for Roadkill when he cheated to prevent a pin from Matt on Doring.

The Bad: Nothing.

The Finish: Roadkill hits a springboard clothesline on Matt and Jeff. Doring grabs Matt, and sets him up for the Buggy Bang! Roadkill scaled the ropes.... but Lita came from the crowd and shoved him off the top! Roadkill flew to the floor below, making a sick splat. Lita scaled the ropes as Doring noticed her, and Lita avoided the grab of Doring, and hit him with a top-rope hurricanrana! The crowd popped, and immediately chanted "Lita", as Lita woke up Matt and helped Matt to the top, where he hit Doring with an Asai moonsault! Cover! One, two, three!

The Hardyz took off after the match, celebrating and hugging Lita.

Rutherford: Wow! Lita made her return tonight, and helped the Hardyz defeat Doring and Roadkill! What a match! Folks, up next is the tag team title match, but I want to direct your attention to something that happened earlier in the night. Jarrett arrived to the arena, and stood outside the door, until a WWAW ref walked by, and Jarrett pulled the ref in. A little later, the ref walked out of the locker room with a bewildered look on his face. What's going on? No one can know for sure, yet. Now, let's go to the ring for the tag title match.

Smith: This tag team match is scheduled for one fall and is for the WWAW Tag Team Titles! (crowd pops) Introducing first...

("House of Horrors" plays, and the crowd pops as Vampiro and the Great Muta come out with the tag team titles! The walk towards the ring.)

Smith: They are the WWAW Tag Team Champions, Vampiro and the Great Muta!

(Muta and Vampiro slide into the ring and spit mist into the air, as they wait for their opponents.... suddenly, some strange music played... and two men stepped out from the curtains in sunglasses. One had a mic.)

???: Hello, fellow people of New York! I am Edge, and this is my friend Christian!

Christian: Hell yeah!

Edge: See, we plan on beating these two guys for their titles, because they reek of sucktitude.

(They are finally interrupted by "Land of Confusion", which sends the crowd into a fit, because they know at least one of the participants... but they get both... Toshiaki Kawada AND CHRIS BENOIT come out to the ring! They take out Edge and Christian, sending Edge through the stage, and throwing Christian off the stage! They then walk towards the ring.)

Smith: And their opponents... the challengers, Toshiaki Kawada and Chris Benoit!

(Benoit and Kawada slide into the ring, and the tag title match begins!)

Match #3:
WWAW Tag Team Titles Match
Vampiro and The Great Muta
vs.
Toshiaki Kawada and Chris Benoit

The Good: OH MAN. This match was so good, it is beyond words. The numerous near falls, the high flying moves, the technical style, it all came together in this match. Every German suplex, every spinning wheel kick, generating pops and "Ohhhhh"'s from the crowd.

The Bad: N/A

The Finish: Vampiro went for the Nail in the Coffin, but Kawada went up and over Vampiro and countered the Nail in the Coffin with one of his own! Kawada went for the cover, but Muta dropkicked Kawada in his face, breaking the pinfall! Benoit came over and started to punch away at Muta, and chop him in the corner. Kawada joined him for the double team, and they whipped Muta into the ropes and hit a double back body drop! Vampiro got to his feet, but he was hit in the gut, and was double underhooked by both men for a double double underhook DDT! The crowd was going crazy with these moves, and they didn't know how much longer this could go on! Cover on Vampiro, but a kickout at two! Benoit called for the finish, and Kawada hit a Brain Buster on Vampiro as Benoit flew off the top with...THE DIVING HEADBUTT! VAMPIRO IS OUT! Cover! One, two....NO! MUTA IS THERE! Rating: *****
(Chris Benoit and Toshiaki Kawada won the WWAW World Tag Team Titles.)

Smith: Here are your winners, and NEW WWAW Tag Team Champions... Chris Benoit and Toshiaki Kawada!

Kawada and Benoit held the titles in the air, exhausted, and the crowd cheered both teams as they walked to the back.

Rutherford: What a match! Benoit and Kawada leave the match with the tag team titles, in a very amazing match! I don't see what can top that match, but we can sure try!
Up next is Chris Jericho against Michael Modest. This match started when Modest attacked Jericho after a match, and later, in an interview, said that he was tired of Jericho's ego, and thought that he could break down the walls of Jericho. Lately, he and Jericho haven't done much, but the bad feelings are still there between the two.
Let's go to the ring for that match.

Smith: This match is scheduled for one fall.. Introducing first...

("Blue Monday" plays, and the crowd boos as Michael Modest comes down to the ring.)

The Bad: Not much.

The Finish: Modest went for the Air Raid Crash, but it was reversed into a small package for a 2 count! Modest got to his feet, but Jericho hit a standing switch on him and hit a German suplex into a pin for the win!

No-Time-Limit-Match:
Chris Jericho pinned Michael Modest after a German suplex in 0:11:41.
Rating: *** 1/2

Smith: And your winner, Chris Jericho!

The crowd cheered as Jericho celebrated his win over Modest. Jericho then went to the back. Modest wasn't pleased with himself, as he couldn't believe he lost to Jericho.

Rutherford: So Modest loses to Jericho, and it doesn't look like he's taking it that great. But I'm sure that he'll be alright. Let's go backstage with Jacob Goodman.

Backstage Interview

(Jacob Goodman is with Scott Norton.)

Goodman: Norton, tonight you face Jeff Jarrett for the WWAW World Title... are you prepared?

Norton: Prepared? I'm more than prepared, I'm ready. This is my chance to crush Jarrett into tiny pieces, and that's not an opportunity I'm about to pass up, thank you.

(Norton leaves with a pissed look on his face.)

Rutherford: Well, at least Norton is ready for Jarrett, personally, I think Jarrett is afraid of Norton. Now, it is time to go to the ring for the match between the Perfect Event and Kronic!

Smith: This tag team match is scheduled for one fall... introducing first...

("The Stroke" plays, and the crowd boos loudly for the Perfect Event as they come down to the ring.)

Smith: The Perfect Event!

(Stasiak and Palumbo slide into the ring and wait for their opponents. "Guilty" then plays, and the crowd goes crazy as Bryan Clark and Brian Adams come down to the ring.)

Smith: And their opponents... Kronic!

(Kronic enters the ring, and is met wth the Perfect Event, and the match begins!)

Match #5:
Perfect Event
vs.
Kronic

The Good: The crowd was into this match, and the Perfect Event put on a good wrestling show.

The Bad: It went on for a little too long, the finish could have been better, and Kronic didn't put on a good wrestling show for the fans in New York.

The Finish: After Kronic hit the High Times on Palumbo, Stasiak got in their faces. After sending him over the top, Katie Haynes came through the crowd!! She entered the ring from behind Kronic, and as they waited for Stasiak to climb back in the ring, they were surprised by a hit to their regions south of the border. Both men went down in pain, and Stasiak re-entered the ring, kissed Katie ON THE LIPS, and then hit Clark with the Perfect Plant for the win!

No-Time-Limit-Match:
The Perfect Event defeated Kronic when Shawn Stasiak pinned Clark with the
Perfect Plant in 0:08:20.
Rating: 1/4*

Smith: And your winners, The Perfect Event!

After the match, we got a backstage shot of Jacob Goodman, who was watching this match, and was obviously displeased with what was going on. Goodman was pissed off, even, that Katie would turn her back on him like that. Back in the ring, Stasiak requested a mic, and got one.

Stasiak: As you can see, the beautiful Katie is back.

(The crowd boos loudly)

Stasiak: You boo, only because you are jealous you can't have her like the Perfect Event does now. So stop your jealousy, and shut your mouths, because it's time that we get some respect around here, and what better way to start than to grab this hot girl and chase the gold! Oh, and Jacob, this one's for you.

(Stasiak turns to Katie and starts making out with her, generating boos from the crowd. Jacob leaves the room, but the security guards stop him and tell him to return to his locker room. Stasiak released the liplock on Katie, and then the Perfect Event and Katie left the arena. They hopped into a limo and got out of MSG as fast as possible.)

Rutherford: That bitch! She turned her back on the fans, and attacked Kronic, leading to a Perfect Event win! What the hell has been going on here lately? The next match is Bill Goldberg against Mantaur. This match came about when Mantaur interfered in Bill Goldberg's match against Rikishi at Deadly Sins. Over the course of the next month, Mantaur got involved in Goldberg's business, and vice versa. Finally, this past Tuesday, this match was announced, setting up a match of epic proportions between these two. There is no doubt in either men's mind that they have to win this match to move up the WWAW ladder. So let's go to the ring for the match.

Smith: This match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first...

("Machinehead" plays, and the crowd boos loudly as Mantaur comes down to the ring.)

Smith: Mantaur!

(Mantaur enters the ring, and waits for his opponent..."Crush 'Em" plays, and the crowd gives a mixed reaction as Bill Goldberg comes down to the ring. He enters the ring and looks at his opponent.)

Smith: And his opponent...Bill Goldberg!

(The match begins!)

Match #6:
Mantaur
vs.
Bill Goldberg

The Good: The crowd was into this one like no other match yet tonight in singles competiton. Many near finishers and many near moves that could possibly end the match where either reversed or kicked out of at the last second. This got the crowd even more interested, wondering when the damn thing would end! Yet, few knew when it was possible that it would be over. Unfortunately, it had to end sometime.

The Bad: Mantaur still can't wrestle worth a damn, and Goldberg's wrestling quality has also went down as well.

The Finish: Mantaur charged at Goldberg, but Goldberg used all the strength in his body to lift up Mantaur, and then drop him with a big Gorilla Press! The ring shaked with the impact, and Goldberg covered Mantaur for the win!

No-Time-Limit-Match:
Bill Goldberg pinned Mantaur after a Gorilla Press in 0:14:17.
Rating: -1/4*

Smith: Your winner, Bill Goldberg!

After the match, Goldberg celebrates with the fans and then walks to the back of the arena.

Rutherford: Let's go backstage...

Backstage Interview

(Jacob Goodman is with WWAW Champion Jeff Jarrett.)

Goodman: Jarrett, not too long from now, you will be defending your WWAW title against Scott Norton. Many say that if you can get past Scott Norton, there is no way that you can be stopped.

Jarrett: Goodman, I can't be stopped now. I've hardly lost a match in my career here in the WWAW, and I plan on keeping it that way tonight. So choke on that, slapass.

(Jarrett walks off.)

Rutherford: Jarrett could become one of the best wrestlers in WWAW tonight...but can he beat Norton to defend his title? We'll see. This next match is between two of the best wrestlers in the WWAW as of right now. Unfortunately, there can be only one, and this match will decide who will reign supreme. Let's go to the ring for the match now.

Smith: This match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first...

("Come With Me" plays, and the crowd boos loudly as Steve Corino comes down to the ring. He is displeased with the reception from the crowd, and demands respect, like usual, as he walks to the ring.)

Smith: Steve Corino!

(Corino slides into the ring and gets ready for his opponent..."The Game" plays, and the crowd pops as Chavo comes down to the ring!)

Smith: And his opponent... Chavo Guerrero Jr!

(Chavo enters the rng and immediately begins brawling with Corino, starting the match early!)

Match #7:
Steve Corino
vs.
Chavo Guerrero Jr.

The Good: Corino and Chavo are very good athletes, and showed it tonight, hitting lots of high-flying moves, not to mention a few power and technical moves.

The Bad: Nothing

The Finish: Towards the end of the match, that was closely competed, Corino just took over, and hit the Old School Expulsion on Chavo, which pissed the crowd off.

No-Time-Limit-Match:
Steve Corino pinned Chavo Guerrero Jr. with the Old School Expulsion in 0:17:00.
Rating: *** 1/2

Smith: And your winner, Steve Corino!

The fans don't like the result, and start booing Corino and the ref. Corino celebrates to the back.

Rutherford: Up next is the main event... but first, here's how we all got here.

(A video package airs... the first thing we see is Norton and Jarrett walking together, as apart of their old alliance. Next is the event at Deadly Sins, where Norton powerbombed Jarrett through that table.

Rutherford: I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! POWERBOMB ON JARRETT!

We also see clips of the tournament, specifically Norton's win over Goldberg in Connecticut to get him to this point. The video package fades and we go back to the ring.)

Rutherford: This is a big match, folks. This is for all the marbles in the fed. I don't see what would be a more important match tonight than any other night this past month. Let's go to the ring for the main event.

Smith: This match is scheduled for one fall, and is for the World Wide Association of Wrestling Heavyweight Title! (crowd pops) Introducing first...

("Fuel" plays, and the crowd absolutely goes crazy as Norton comes down to the ring.)

Smith: The challenger... Scott Norton!

(Norton enters the ring and raises his hands in the air, getting the crowd behind him.... "Cowboy" plays, and the crowd explodes in boos as Jeff Jarrett comes down to the ring. He's got his guitar on his right shoulder, the title on the left and a smile on his face.

Smith: And his opponent...and WWAW World Heavyweight Champion...Jeff Jarrett!

(Jarrett enters the ring and stares down Norton to begin the match!)

Main Event:
Match #8:
Scott Norton
vs.
Jeff Jarrett

The Good: The crowd was so into it, it was amazing. They chanted "Norton" for almost the entire match, and wouldn't stop getting behind Norton, making Jarrett mad which made the fans turn on him!

The Bad: Nothing.

The Finish: Norton hits a shoulderbreaker on Jarrett and goes for the pin. 2 count. Norton lifts up Jarrett and goes for the Powerbomb, but Jarrett somehow reverses it into a backdrop and goes for the cover. 2 count. Jarrett picks up Norton for the Stroke, but Norton elbows his way out of it, on the final elbow dazing Jarrett, and Norton hits Jarrett with a big boot, sending him out of his daze for the time being. Norton picked up Jarrett for the Powerbomb, but Jarrett had too much momentum and fell on top of Norton, and began to land punches on him! Norton, however, grabbed Jarrett by the throat...and hit him with a chokeslam! Norton then called for the end, but the Perfect Event came down to the ring! They both have baseball bats, and are attacking Norton! The ref is letting it all go! What the hell? Jarrett is smiling at the ref as he gets up! After a gang beating... Jarrett grabs Norton... no!!! STROKE!! STROKE!!! IT'S OVER!! JARRETT GOES FOR THE COVER!!!

ONE...
	TWO...
		THREE!!! NO!!! NO!!!

No-Time-Limit-Match:
Jeff Jarrett pinned Scott Norton with the Stroke in 0:15:39.
Rating: **
(Jeff Jarrett retained the WWAW World Heavyweight Title.)

Smith: Your winner, and still WWAW World Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Jarrett!

Jarrett celebrates with the Perfect Event as trash is thrown into the ring... but the lights go out and a noise like thunder echoes through the arena. On the WWAW-Tron, there is someone on the screen!

???: Jeff Jarrett... I'm coming back for you. Watch your back....

The lights come back on and Jarrett is shocked! He's scared! What's going to happen on Tuesday?!?! GOOD NIGHT, FOLKS!
