DISCUSS ITEMS

A.  Night Ground Operations

      Preflight

      - Use a Clear Lens flashlight during preflight exterior inspection

- Check operation of all interior lights in both cockpits:

            - Instrument Floodlights - FULL ON

            - Console/Floodlights - FULL ON

            - Utility Light - FULL ON, FORWARD POSITION

            - Circuit Breaker Panel Light Switches - ON

      - With Battery ON, check all exterior lights:

            - Landing Lights

            - Navigation Lights - BRIGHT and DIM

            - Strobes

            - External Landing Gear Lights

Start

      - Navigation Lights - BRIGHT

      - Strobes - OFF

      - Cockpit Lights - DIM

      - Instrument Floodlights - FULL BRIGHT (Dim as eyes get adjusted to night)

      - Signal intent to start by rotating flashlight at lineman

      - Signal chock removal by moving flashlight from shoulder to shoulder

       Taxi

      - Be cautious of taxiing too fast

      - Consideration should be given to courteous use of lights to avoid disorientation of

other aircraft, ground support, and tower personnel

      - Taxi is only permitted on lighted, authorized taxiways

      - Turn landing lights OFF while conducting pre-taxi and runup checklists or if

delayed at Hold Short line

       Night Field Lighting

      - BLUE Lights - Taxiways, Both sides

      - WHITE Lights - Boundaries of duty runway

      - GREEN Lights - Threshold of duty runway

      - RED Lights - Obstructions on field

      - Rotating Beacon      - CIVILIAN - Green, White

                              - MILITARY - Green, White, White

B.  Interior Light Failure

      With the lights extinguished:

      1. Activate and use the utility/emergency light

      2. Check corresponding circuit breakers-      IN

      3. Check corresponding switches ---------      ON

D.   ALDIS Lamp Signals

            - When preceding aircraft is Full Stop, interval is 45° behind wingtip
