In the beginning.. |
I
think I must apologize for anyone with artistic sensibilities for any style
choices I have made, I'm a programmer by trade and all this HTML stuff
bothers me (as does spelling).
A few technical points to be made are that, as much as I have tried, I'm not sure how cross platform all this is. You can't please all of the people all of the time. Also note that I'm not ashamed to use Microsoft tools from time to time. If I could get the X Windows system working seemlessly on my home PC then I'd be using Linux. |
Moans |
It's amazing that Netscape and Internet Exploiter can't display even the simplest page the same way without me spending hours hacking away at HTML trying to find some sort of agreement between the two. These pages aren't particularly well designed compared to a comercial site, but even so it shouldn't be so much of a nightmare to get them to display them without crappy little artifacts. |
Tables |
I love 'em. At last I've found a way to get control of layouts without mucking about with frames as I used to. |
A minor point |
There is a history of magasines going through personal web pages and ripping them apart. The basic problem - acoording to them - seems to be that 'why would anyone want to read about this person?' It always amuses me that these are the same magasines that continuosly run tutorials on how to set up your own web page... So I guess I should justify these pages. This is quite easy as: there are a few people (friends of mine) who read them (giving me justification on the grounds that someone seems to want to read them); it is easier for me to write about what I'm up to and where I am on here than send out 20 emails all containing the same text; and it's good practice for me in playing around with HTML. So there! |
