I began this trip with a ferry boat ride across the bay to the northern shore.  |
A planned recreational corridor currently consisting of 240 miles of developed pathways encircling the San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. The trail provides easily accessible recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, including hikers, joggers, and bicyclists. |

I begin biking the trail by crossing a bridge over a small inlet near the town of San Rafael heading southward along the western shore of the bay.  |

By late afternoon I've left the bridge far behind as I'm travelling through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.  |
