The Pipiwai Trail to Waimoku Falls
Maui, Hawaii

February 19, 2004.

The Pipiwai Trail is part of the Haleakala National Park in Maui and is a 1½ mile hike through beautiful bamboo forests to the 400 foot Waimoku Falls. Several smaller scenic waterfalls can also be seen along the way.

The gate at the start of the trail. Below, one of several bridge crossings offering views of the streams and pools along the trail.

The bamboo forest begins about 1/4th of the way up the trail.

Several smaller waterfalls and natural pools along the way provide a good way to cool off before reaching Waimoku Falls.

The end of the trail at the base of Waimoku Falls. After this picture, I stood under the waterfall for a cool shower after the long hike.
