Stargate SG-1, observed Tactics

By Deathbunny

This page is about the tactics shown in Stargate and other, basic, real world tactics and explanations:

The "SEAL Peel":

This tactic was definitively demonstrated in the 5th Season Episode "Enemies" versus the Replicators.

It is a basic drill for small teams to break contact with a larger force and is often associated with SEAL Teams...

A. The closest team member, (A), initiates the drill by bringing rapid, automatic fire on the approaching enemy forces. Other team members with a clear line-of-site, (B) and (C), support him/her with aimed semi-automatic fire.

B. When (A)'s magazine is empty, he/she quickly moves between his/her team mates to the rear, either reloading as he/she moves or when he/she stops. The next nearest team mate, (B), shifts to automatic fire...

C. The cycle continues with the team moving rapidly backwards while keeping up a high rate of aimed and automatic fire until they either reach a more advantageous place to fight or the enemy breaks their pursuit.

"Flanking":

This is a very basic tactic.

Simply put, it's attacking from the enemy's side.

Unlike a direct frontal attack (Figure B.), where the enemy can concentrate it's fire on the team and make it difficult to return fire...

A flank attack (Figure A.) has several advantages.

If used in conjunction with a frontal attack, it forces the enemy to divide his attention and fire. It also permits at least one of your elements the oppurtunity to shoot at the enemies side or backs...
