I come from India a country known for its culture. Our country is a developing country. After fifty years of independence, just now our country is competing with the developed countries. Electricity is the backbone for development of any country. One of the criteria to rank the development of any country depends on the per capita use of the electricity. If I am given authority to change one important thing in my hometown, I will bring in new technology for betterment of the supply of electricity.

As for as India is concerned in electricity, it is using the same technology that was followed fifty years back. Electric lines are fastened to the post overhead. This means of transferring the electricity is dangerous. What I think is the solution for this problem is to lay the transfer line underground.

Over head transfer line has many disadvantage and it is dangerous too. I remember an incident, which effected me a lot. Due to cyclone a day before the incident, the transfer line was detached from the post but the supply was there in the line, no one informed about it. The next day a bus which passed by made a contact with the lines and caught fire due to the electric spark, all the fifty-two members in the bus died due to the electric shock.

Other disadvantages are due to the natural calamities, say it may be earthquake or cyclone or heavy rain or hot summer, the over head transfer line gets damaged. This results in chaos and difficulties for both residence and the factories.

If the line is laid underground we have no disadvantages except for the initial investment cost. Considering the safety aspect and other advantages the system will work for a long time without any fault
