<< I think people visit museums because that is the best way to know the history or character of the place. I think a museum can represent some characters of the town. So when people first visit to some place, I think it is natural to visit a museum. I think a museum can represent what the town is famous for. But someone may think when people visit some place, theyalready know what the town is famous for. So people don't necessary go to the museum. But I think there is yet a necessity to visit a museum. For example, if I visit a town which is famous for WASHI, an old type of Japanese paper made from woods, I can enjoy making WASHI in the museum. In Japan, we have many WASHI museums and in such museums we can usually experience how to make the paper. I think in some town, we can often come across a museum that does not have a direct relation with the town. In such a case, do visitors need to visit the museum? I think they can also enjoy such a type of museum. Though the museum may not have relations with the town, the museum was built for some purposes. For example, we have an international art museum in our town, and in the museum we can see a lot of pictures of all over the world. My teacher has said that, as the museum has one hundred pictures, we can see one world famous picture for only 30 yen (that is less than 1 U.S. dollar). I think that is reasonable. Though that museum does not have no direct or indirect relations with our town, we can see one picture for 30 yen. So I can recommend the museum to my friends when they visit my town. In the museum, we can not learn anything about our town's history or characteristics, but I think the museum can offer something to the visitors of our town. Finally, to tell the truth, I don't visit museums when I travel to some places. But as writing this essay, I can feel the necessity and the worth of visiting museums. I have not even went to the art museum I have stated above. So I decide to visit the art museum the next Friday night with my friends. That may offer me new vision about my town and I could love my hometown much better. |
