People have different idea about the way of learning something based on their own preference.  Therefore which is the best way, learning for ourselves or learning from teachers is depending on our each thought.  As for me, I like taking lecture of teacher when learning something more than study by myself.  It is because I can learn what I need more effectively from teachers.

 

  First of all, teachers are as you know, professionals of teaching the subjects so that they are familiar with the contents and what kind of point students have trouble to understand.  Therefore, they can add more detailed explanation of what they think is difficult for students.  We, students can understand the contents more easily thatn when we study for ourselves.   Moreover, teachers can make the lecture interesting by adding extra interesting explanation about the subject with their comprehansive knowledge.  Students will develop their knowledge about the study enjoying and increasing their interests.

 

  Secondly, we can ask teacher question about what we cannot understand.   Learning something, we usually have some point we cannot understand even if we study hard. Teachers instantly answer the question with their understandable detailed explanation.  

 

  Learning for ourselves on the other hand compels us to take much time to understand the difficult and complicated stuff.  Although thinking for a long time makes us patient people and gives us confidence after working out, we might be frustrated and quit the job before solving for ourselves.  Taking time is also disadvantageous, if we have lots of important things to study.

 

  In this way, teachers are very useful helper of studying something for me.   Their good explanation based on their experience and knowledge make us understand the contents efficiently,    But I think that we should remember whether or not we can acquire is depending on our own effort.  The best lecture of the competent teacher could not make us acquire any knowledge or skills unless we listen to it.
