I think both highway and public transportation are useful for us.  But on balance, government should spend more money on developing public transportation system like train, buss and subway.  It is because it is better means of transportation in terms of its usefulness and safety.

 

  Public transportation can be used by larger number of people, including those who do not drive a car.  Once government establish the system, everyone can utilize it and go wherever he/she wants to go.  Public transportation is essential means for those who do not have drivers' license or car like elderly people, children, physically challenging persons.  Especially, I think that government should improve transportation system of rural area because there are more elders live in the countryside and public transportation like buss or train is necessary for elderly residents.   Such rural areas usually have well furnished road and highway,  which people cannot use  efficiently without car.  Therefore public vehicles are much more useful for children and elderly people. 

 

  Furthermore, public transportation is environment-friendly and safe means of transportation.   Trains and subways discharge less harmful gasses that causes environmental pollution.  Since public transportation can convey many people efficiently, improvement of public transportation system reduce the number of cars whose discharged gasses pollute air and can injure pedestrian and passengers of other vehicles.  In this way, public transpiration is very useful for everyone.

 

  Road and highway is of course need to be maintain adequately and I never deny the use of car.  However, as the way of spending revenue,  I strongly recommend that government increase the number of public transportaion such as buss, train, and subway because more people can use the transportation effectively and safely.
