<< I think airplanes have changed the way people live. Because by using airplanes we can travel extremely far distandes. For example, to take the TOEFL test, I must go to Tokyo that is over 500 km away from my home. Before CBT has begun, I can take the test in my community. But as CBT begins, I must use an airplane to take the test. So for me, airplanes is essential to take the TOEFL test. It is true that automobiles have also improved our lives. I admit that. But I think automobiles don't have so important role in my country as in the United States. I know for Americans, automobiles are necessary or even essential for their lives. I think this is because the vast land of the United States. In my country, other traffics such as trains or busses are available, so we don't necessary own our cars. Using airplanes, we can go too far away than we used to be. By doing so, we can communicate with variety of people. In fact, I could not enter my university if no airplane is available. You may think that airplanes have certainly changed our lives, but it costs a lot. If you want to use an airplane, you must pay a lot of money. For example, if I want to go Tokyo to take the TOEFL test, I must pay 25,000 yen that is more than 200 U.S. dollars. On top of that I must pay 110 U.S. dollars to the TOEFL committee. So I must pay more than 300 dollars in toatl to take only one test. To solve this problem, air companies in my country are making great efforts. In fact, if they don't offer variety of services or options, I must pay more than 400 dollars at one time. According to their contributions, we, passangers can ride airplanes cheaper than used to be. Then you may think that in the future, we may own airplanes as we own cars. Do you think this will come true? I don't think so. I don't think that airplanes can take place of the automobiles. This is because the costs and traffics. Owning airplanes may cost a lot and even if you can buy it, you will not be able to maintain it. And the traffic in the air will be a problem. In my country, almost all people don't have their own airplanes. But the traffic in the air is already a problem. For example, from Haneda airport, airplanes land off every three minutes. And some airplanes must wait in the sky because of the crowdness in the airport. So in my country, there is no space private airplanes can fly. I think in the future, airplanes will be easily to board. That is, in ten years or so, the fee will be down and we can use airplanes as we use buses or trains now. I believe airplanes will be the most popular traffic in my country. |
